Today Roland came out with their xmas present, the JV-1080 is released on Cloud
    here is the original message

    First, the big news...
This holiday season, the folks at Roland Cloud have been working extra hard to bring you a giant dose of holiday cheer. For starters, we’re overjoyed to deliver the highly-anticipated, Roland Cloud software adaptation of one of the most popular synthesizers in history: The Roland JV-1080.

The most famous of the Roland PCM powerhouses, the Roland JV-1080 is the ‘down to the circuit’ inspiration for the Roland Cloud JV-1080 software plugin. It was a huge success with artists and producers, and eventually lead to even more powerful models in the series such as the JV-2080 and XV-5080.

While the Roland Cloud JV-1080 has the look, feel and factory patches of the original, it has the expanded effects, additional waveforms, and increased polyphony of its successors. It’s like the JV-1080 you know and love, but enhanced to go toe to toe in your DAW with any contemporary software synthesizer.

If you are a Roland Cloud Core Member or are enjoying our 30 day free trial, you should see the JV-1080 available for download and installation via Roland Cloud Manager

The Roland JV-1080 was one of the hottest and most popular digital synthesizers ever to come from Roland. Incredible sound quality capable of emulating any instrument imaginable plus totally fat analog synth type sounds and loads of percussion! It has 64 voices of polyphony and 16 part multitimbral, it's no wonder this is part of almost every Film Score Composers set-up as well as many more artists and hobbyists!

It has 8MB of sounds and it also offers a lot of expandability with 4 expansion slots and 2 data card memory slots. You can get up to 42MB of sounds by adding any of the popular JV-80 expansion cards suited for Techno, World Instruments, Orchestral or Synthesizers. The 1080 has a large LCD screen, lots of effects and filters for creative flexibility, motion control and extensive MIDI implementation. Editing is intense but enhanced and simplified by external editors like MOTU's Unisyn. It is used by Faithless, Hardfloor, Vangelis, Scanner, Roni Size, LTJ Bukem and Apollo 440.

If viper is like my virus c and if this is like original hardware, I will sell my virus toooo cheap. Also JP8000 will be a good emulation addition to a not-sold-yet virus

I hope it comes with all the additional samples from their [way too expensive] PCM cards. That would be a game changer as some of those cards have ridiculous prices these days on e-bay. Like the Vintage card, for example. I almost bought one with the Vintage card, but thankfully I didn't because I thought "well, it's a ROMpler, they will emulate it sooner or later perfectly".

    So good news, thank you!

The big OCD purchase of 2015 :

With the development of SuperNATURAL sound and Behavior Modeling technology, Roland has blurred the boundary between acoustic and electronic instruments. Built upon these core technologies, the new INTEGRA-7 gives musicians a gold mine of the latest SuperNATURAL sounds in a fast-access, fully stocked 16-part module. The powerhouse rack comprises a “greatest hits” collection of sounds from Roland’s flagship keyboards and V-Drums modules, plus a coveted lineup from the legacy SRX library. It also introduces a new technology called Motional Surround, a 17-part ambience engine that lets you graphically control the distance and position of each part within 360-degree sound field. With the immense power of the INTEGRA-7, you can create amazingly realistic and detailed orchestral arrangements, immersive, spatial sounds, and beyond[IMG]
    • Flagship synth module with over 6,000 sounds built in
    • The latest SuperNATURAL sounds with enhanced Behavior Modeling technology for expressive acoustic instruments and accurate reproduction of performance articulations
    • Powerful SuperNATURAL synth engine with fat analog synth models and vintage filter types
    • Dynamic SuperNATURAL drum engine with natural tonal change derived from Roland V-Drums
    • Producer’s “must-have” SRX Expansion sound library built in; all 12 SRX titles included
    • Dedicated multi-effects and EQ for each part (16 parts), plus dedicated COMP+EQ (use six simultaneously) for drums and ambience parameters for SuperNATURAL drum kits
    • Innovative 17-part Motional Surround ambience engine for stereo, headphone, and 5.1-channel output
    • INTEGRA-7 Editor for iPad (....and now Windows!!! :)

@SineWave Hey mate. Imho, you should have grabbed that 1080 bro. I still have my JV-1080, Vintage board, the Dance board too which was discontinued shortly after release due to rights conflict from loop samples included, a few other expansions too. The 1080 although it should be a simple rompler outdated by today's standards, it has a unique sound quality that none of its more advanced brothers that followed it can match, not even the Integra which supposedly embodies all the best of Roland's romplers. The bass on the 1080 can go so low that it can make you puke or start nauseating. Literally. I actually have a sweeping sine i made that goes down to that specific frequency. To this day i keep wondering how nowadays bassheads haven't discovered it yet hahah. I will be happy to put this softie to A/B test if i get my hands on it:)
Best wishes for a merry Xmas to all

  12. Impressive

    Impressive Guest

I was just about to mention this. I bought this in June of 2016 from Zzounds. It was my first Zzounds purchase plan ($125 per month) and it's actually of of the more impressive (*cough cough* like me *cough cough* lol) sounding ones I've owned. I mentioned on the sister site that this JV-1080 emulation sounds a lot like the Integra-7.
I also own a Jupiter 80. Got it secondhand for about $1,395 somewhere on Reverb a few years back. This is also similar. I think I may actually go grab a JV-1080 too just because they're cheap as dirt on ebay (only $200-$300). These actually sound pretty nice.
Though my favorite physical synthesizer I own is still my Access Virus TI2, my Integra-7 and Jupiter 80 are not far behind.

Just for those who missed out, Roland Cloud subscription/pricing model is worth to subscribe imho. We will eventually ends up with owning these instruments. It's weird but considering the total of all instruments there worth $4K, i think it's a good style of subscription.

    FUCK ME!
Should I sell my fully loaded 1080 now?
I like these Roland cloud synths but they took out the analog noise of the old instruments! so they don't sound quite as good imho very clean very digital very soft synth
The 1080 is very clean 90's advanced digital technology though so I'd say this one will compare well with it's inspiration. BUT these is some info about the waveforms being samled in only 32K or something, so somewhat lower in resolution than the JD990 which is a superior machine.
1080s go cheap these days and they have been the best value synth around for quite some time.
Can it be truly called a 1080/D50 etc... well that is a matter for debate friends! :guru:

I have a JV1010. Little brother to the JV1080. Very nice sounds but without all the programability. It also has the Session expansion built in and room for one more card. I wish the software actually worked though. I never found a PC it would run on.
