Hi, I was wondering if someone knows what synth is used for the acoustic guitar sounding part in robert miles children at 57 seconds.

Robert Miles - Children [Dream Version]

Anyone know at similar setting to it on a vst like omnisphere or massive or diva ?

I know Omnisphere has a guitar section with at least 2 Classic Nylon Guitar patches, probably with some fx you could get a good result. Or try the fingerpicking patches, they sound quite nice, too.

As soon as I heard it, I could tell that the guitar sound came from a 90s PCM synthesizer. In other words, it's not "synthesized" synthesized, but is based on a sample of a real guitar. In this Wikipedia article, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Children_(composition)#Critical_response, it says the piano comes from a Kurzweil K2000 synth. The source of the information comes from here: https://www.synthmania.com/Famous Sounds.htm

It is very possible the guitar comes from the same place, a Kurzweil K2000 synth. My proof is that, according to this wikipedia article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Scrubs#Composition_and_lyrics, the guitar from "No Scrubs" by TLC, also comes from a 90s Kurzweil PCM synth, and sounds VERY similar to the guitar from "Children" by Robert Miles.

    More evidence:
    https://www.reddit.com/r/synthrecipes/comments/pi4jz0/tlc_no_scrubs_intro_guitar_sound/
    - Kurzweil K2000 V3 factory presets (Part 1) - Steel Str Guitar (should start at 3:10)

You probably won't get a sound like that from u-he Diva, or even Massive. A normal Steel String guitar sample library should suffice. Omnisphere definitely has one in its sound library. If you want to make it sound more "synthy", maybe try sampling one and then throwing in into a spectral resynthesizer like Image-Line Harmor, or DiscoDSP Vertigo.

Sounds like Nylon guitar with the piano on a delay

Here is an example of an acoustic guitar sound that was resynthesized in Image-Line Harmor:

    https://daowaves.com/en/synth_presets.html#1:
    - Daowaves La Marta - is the synthesized Guitar preset for Harmor and Patcher.

Also, I don't know what @Chaindog or @DJ PUKKA are talking about. It sounds like a steel string guitar, not a nylon string guitar.

I have no idea what this means, nor do I know what you are trying to say with it.

Guitar as mentioned is a nylon guitar, any cheap sample libraries should give you that. Now the piano, that particular sound, you don't get it from other guitars, but I found the multi samples from the Kurzweil K2000, soundfont (get it from here), so you can use Kontakt 5 to load it up and add a delay/reverb, you got the piano too.

As @Majestic I think it was Kurzweil K2000 but I guess it's not difficult to get it on a vst, rompler or hybrid synth, I'll maybe try myself.

    Off topic:
few months ago a friend asked me to transcribe it in every detail.
My original CD purchased in 1996 has in its beginning a rain storm, fading slowly and introducing the track.

Kurzweil K2000 Steel string guitar is the patch I think. I think majority of the sounds on children are from K2000. Most any 90's or early 2000's rompler vst should have something similar. Korg Triton or Roland JV/XV maybe

Thanks for all the responses. It is a realistic sound for 1996. I had actually been looking at videos of the K2000 recently, very nice sounding synth. I put this in the wrong thread accidentally. I'll look for a real guitar sampled library for this with a nylon stringed guitar.

are you sure its a synth it sounds exactly like my early 80's Godin Acousticaster. It is an exceptionally beautiful sounding guitar. It is a really comfortable guitar you can easily play for hours. The LR Baggs pickup system made it so tonally versatile.

The "rain storm" sound should also be from Kurzweil K2000

Studio next door back in the day had one K2000 and they played around with the piano and guitar of the Robert Miles, and to be proven here it is, timestamp 15:34 for the guitar , 8:13 for the piano, you´re welcome

Not sure, I'm pretty confident it was recorded or taken from nature sounds samples, then distorted.
