Digiface usb can now be flashed to class compliant mode. This should make it compatible with Linux.
If anyone has any experience with this please chime in

You need to run the RME Flash Update Tool and specifically check the "CC Mode" box to overwrite the firmware; you can't toggle this on the unit itself.

Once flashed, Linux picks it up immediately. I strongly recommend Kernel 6.12 or newer for proper channel mapping, but you get full access to all 32 ADAT I/O plus the phones. The main trade-off is that you lose TotalMix FX entirely. The interface becomes a straight I/O pipe, so you lose hardware-based zero-latency monitoring and have to handle all routing in software like JACK or PipeWire. You also have to rely on alsamixer to switch clock sources since there’s no GUI. It’s a solid solution, you don't need the internal DSP.

:rofl:Yeah you dont need totalmix FX - only one of THE main reasons that makes RME hw great. Silly wabbit. Just because the hw gets recognized does not indicate compatibility with anything.

Maybe instead of an obtuse cludge of an OS, run something that works :dunno: just a thought...

If I set some EQ on various output channels in TotalMix, will those EQ settings stay when I use the interface in Linux?

...I'm not sure the OS is the obtuse cludge in this situation.

I am quite sure the OS is the obvious (not so sure about you either), obtuse kludge. There is ZERO RME driver support for linx on digiface. look it up. NO driver support == you lose every bit of compatibility with anything. Whatever. Enjoy...:hahaha:
