Just watched a David Wallimann YouTube video touting this software for essentially making stems from a mixed down audio file. (as well as a pile of other manipulation functions)

sounds like a total bullshit imo
look at how clean the solo's sound. it's impossible to achieve such fantastic results at the moment.

Some of the YouTube demonstrations show very good separation of some of the stems but others sound underwater.

 

Acappella / stems extractor:
I have tried various apps for this purpose, I have also tested different online services. In theory they work, but in real life they all give the same disappointing result, I guess they all use the same algorithm. It is a good start, but I believe there is still a lot to do to improve this technology

With these types of demos they invariably use very clean tracks that have clearly audible instruments. I'll be more interested when they can separate Tony Iommi's guitar from Geezer's bass, or remove Yoko Ono's voice from everything she ever recorded.

 

I will be a believer when Yoko is completely removed from here.

 

What I find baffling about Yoko is that she is classically trained in piano and opera. Imagine being her teacher and not being able to boast about your most famous student for fear of being ridiculed.

 

OMG that was shocking. Can you imagine what the other musicians were thinking. How embarrassing.

 

Make sure you read their privacy policy, they collect all sorts of data. Better use some VST like DrumExtract from Yellownoise if you want to seperate instruments
