    Oh no.
Hard to speak about Brazilian music without mentioning his name.

Read about it yesterday. Really sad news. True master of bossanova. Rest in peace.

Sorry to hear this, but I still hope to never hear The Girl From Ipanema ever again.

    Why??
It's one of his most iconic songs by the way.

Because it's tired and worn out and I've heard it way too many times. Kind of like the word "iconic".

Tom and Vinícius wrote Garota de Ipanema, not João. :)

But...Yeah, I can't stand this song anymore as well...Same goes for Stairway to Heaven, Sweet Home Alabama, Sultans of Swing, Smoke on The Water, New York New York, etc...

Anyway, rest in peace, João. You'll be remembered as the genius who created one of the most sophisticated music genres.

If anyone is interested, check out his daughter's work as well, Bebel Gilberto. She blends Bossa with EDM. Pretty good stuff.

A legend in his own time... he got to see the impact he left on music which a lot of great composers never did. He will most certainly Rest in Peace...

I still don't mind hearing Sultans. I guess it's yet to cross that threshold for me. To that list I would emphatically add Brown Eye Girl, Margaritaville, American Pie, and anything by Bob Seger, among others.
