reverse gated reverb

    can you please check and tell me how is that done?

    the guy says "if we were to take the envelope of normal reverb and turn it around backwards the volume of the reverb would rise then stop abruptly

    The reverb must have either a reverse switch or an envelope, which you must set like a rising sawtooth.

    so by reversing the reverb that does not mean the vocal will reverse also, is that correct?

    Yes, it's only the fx that's reversed.

    can you tell me where on the reverb there is an option to reverse only the reverb and not the actual vocal i'm still a bit confused

    If the reverb has this option it's always and only for the reverb, never for the vocals. It's just the effect that's reversed, not the audio file.

    Some reverbs have envelopes. If you create an up-ramp (instead of the regular down-ramp) you get this reversed envelope.

    It's not entirely like pre-reverb, which is 1) reversal of the original audio 2) applying reverb and 3) reversing the reverb back again.

    Reverse your audio. Add the reverb FX and record a new audio clip. Now reverse what you recorded.
    Baxter beat me to it. IR-1 and Altiverb have reverse settings.

    Any good reverb (other than IR-1, Altiverb) have a reverse setting? (both are overkill.

    doing it by hand works, but i dont like.

    Denise Audio Perfect Room has some presets good as start points: "I love that weird reverse" and "Why did you sound like you´re playing backwards" Funny names.

    youtube...? But there are several options. Easiest option in my opinion is bouncing the reverb (only) as audio. That way you have maximum control, and of course you can edit that bounce again.
