    Off topic....
    My first proper 'good' guitar was a '69 blonde/maple neck Tele I bought new from Manny's in NYC when I was in high school. Guitar long long gone now. I can still remember how guitar glorious it smelled. Other kids at school who played told me how CBS Fenders sucked. Long story short, about 9-10 years or so ago, I saw the same one hanging on the wall in a Sam Ash store with a $6,000 price tag. My jaw dropped. Probably more now. Just goes to show.... it's old so slap a big price tag on it, lol.

    It was a nice guitar as far as I knew at that age. (which was zip). I am nostalgic for one if they made one the exact same color and neck (and smell, lol) but afaik they don't. However I don't think it was anything special beyond any modern tele which I do have.

    @boingy99 when i read that, i see what youre explaining more as a topic of morality, but not the actual definition of a venture capitalist as a title. people can fall under the same title but have different morals; that comes down more to the individual than the title itself. believing everyone under that title has the same morals, is stereotyping

    if you believe Creator Partners have those type of morals regarding business, im curious how have they shown that will be the likely case with Reverb? it kinda just comes off to me as projecting a stereotype you hold for whatever reason unto them. they dont even own enough of the company to do any of what you mentioned in your personal definition

    @mr.personality lol i could see that happening. from what i understand the big problems with the CBS Fenders had do with how the materials aged poorly and the inconsistency in quality. some people had to have gotten good ones, that mightve been one you saw at Sam Ash, which sounds like it would be rare

    ive never actually played one, so I cant speak on how they play, all my knowledge around that era is from a documentary i watched about Fender. i love Tele’s though, the newer pine body ones are beautiful in person imo

    people are not corporations, Reverb was purchased by holding companies (corporations) that own the majority stake of FMI. FMI and Reverb are now controlled by the same holding companies, their strategies can be manipulated to manipulate market share and prices of new and used instruments, software and music gear.

    for the owners of the assets (FMI, Reverb, etc) this is probably a good thing, for the consumers its limits your choices and your prices and it manipulates you in ways you won't know, because most people don't even pay attention to events like this purchase, they are too busy on tik-tok etc, (probably deliberately) it is the way of the world. The smart know and watch and understand, the rest, respond, react and return to being constantly manipulated.

    @Grape Ape

    I recall an interview with Ritchie Blackmore (Strat player) back around early 70's or so who was asked about him busting up his guitars. He said they were so bad that they should be broken. Maybe it was the same interview, or a different one, where the writer prefaced his meeting with him (in a restaraunt I believe) that Blackmore had thrown a steak he was eating across the room in a fit of anger, apparently unhappy with how it was cooked, lol.

    Reverb is a scam website, with everything overpriced AND abusive fees.
    Fender can eat that sh*t and die from it, no problem.
