I tried to mix at low volume I mixed some instruments but when I wanted to get the mixdown, I increased the volume on the master bus feeding it into brickwall limiter. The problem is I hear some harsh resonances that wouldn't be heard at low volume. Am I doing anything wrong? or I just should EQ those frequencies?

It could be your room, or It could be amount of gr you're doing in your limiter. How low were u mixing? I use pink noise to calibrate monitors to get a balanced monitor level at around 83 spl

The description is too general, could be anything. More details please.

Are you speaking of volume spl, or fs?
Same prob with speakers and headphones?
What if you listen to your mix at high volume (spl)?

A lot of nasty crap often comes right out when you increase loudness with a limiter. Stuff you could barely hear before now gets super annoying and in your face, that's the nature of hard limiting.

You could limit it less hard (making those uglies less hearable) or try to address it by EQing. Try putting your adjustment EQ just before the limiter and work those two together, so you hear what your EQ moves are helping or hurting after it goes through the limiter.

Have you listened to the sounds in solo with limiter on? Maybe you find the problem this way. Because, besides that what Satai said, I would try to fix it in the mix.

    nasty resonant frequency build-ups live around here : 245Hz , 540Hz, 750hz, 1.5kHz, 2kHz. cut them out with a narrow Q high precision linear-phase EQ. also, hp filter@45hz ,lp filter @16kHz.

I am talking about the increasing volume on the master channel to hit almost 0dB in the limiter.

use EQ's (on the tracks that causes the isues) to control those "peaks" that get out of control from the limiting
