was windows / linux / amiga for my whole life
swtiched to macair m4 recently, yes battery/proc ammmmmaaaazing
but macos omg... wtf what's that ? and pretending SIP is "security" and seeing all the reddit and other forum ass licker jerk defendeint apple and how apple is alwats smarter than you.. ok I knew I'd step into that anyway. never seen such a bunch of bugs even amateur linux distros can do better. (not even package manager, just an alpha of pkgtool for years..poretending you delete apps and done but it leaks a ton of direcctory file agents all over the place - the more I dig, the more i have to use terminal and enjoy learning how crappy is that)- i could keep going.

my biggest disapointement came to logic. I used ableton and S1 on windows. Always lurking at logic pro, but it's a piece of crap ! yes many feature probably good sounds and puglins. many use it i do great with it. Me it just hurted my eyes and my brain and my hands. I know it looks like old software, unclear clunky cumbersome ungernonomic unintuitive unfriendly interface. I'm software engineer coding all king of piece of shit for 30+ years so at least I can judge

Rent ended. I keep that laptop, excellent hardware , love the real time audio stack (at least it's something good in macos) - despite I hate that glossy fingerprint magnet screen), using ableton, maybe S1 again later.

Thanks for the report on your first five minutes with macOS, and your first two minutes with Logic.

It takes longer than that to unlearn old Windows habits, and start to appreciate the many good things about macOS, and it certainly takes longer than that to get used to the change in visual style and the ways of doing things. Maybe report back after three to six months, and let us know whether you have more things to rant about, or whether you've been pleasantly surprised about some things.

No modern computing environment is perfect, each has different strengths and weaknesses, and it's wise to pick the ones that work for you as your main platform, whatever your personal preference is.

Logic doesn't hurt anyone's eyes, you're just being over-dramatic. What you mean is you don't initially like it, which is fair enough. Once you get used to it, you may feel differently (you may not, of course, too).

Personally, I find many other DAWs, eg, Cubase and Reaper to be super ugly, over-complicated and unintuitive, but with all deep software, you work best with what you know, and tend to think the one you use is the best because it has the least friction to you in use. For me, that is hands-down Logic, but for you it might be something different. I find Logic the most clear and least-cluttered DAW out there, which frees me up to just make music.

If you *really* want cumbersome, unintuitive and unfriendly interfaces, try something like Blender or Maya... :)

Judging from the way you worded your post, I am not surprised you did not fare well.

Sending thoughts and prayers from my rock solid M2 Pro Mac mini Cubase machine.. I mean when was Logic ever considered 'eye candy'? Bought into it at Logic Platinum 4 all the way up to Logic Pro 11 (I switched back to Cubase right before Cubase 12 came out) that things always been 'utilitarian' to say the least. Be glad you never had to configure the 'Environment' just to run your MIDI gear.

If you can't get anything done with everything Logic Pro gives you nowadays, that's not Logic or Apple's fault.

but he is a coder, so he knows about good design.

plus live does not exist on macos, so he is limited to logic.

which he rented, if i am interpreting the topic correctly.

    +1 :)

I don’t get it, why did you switch from Ableton and S1 to logic, both are available on macOS

Live doesn't exist on MacOS? Then what's this Ableton Live Suite 11 I spent like $500 on a few years back that I seem to be able to use just fine on MacOS??
