Still remember going legit on vanguard after I used the k on a Wii game.
Within a year it was abandonware.
I still buy my stuff I use, but that experience certainly tamed my buy finger.

They are OK. I like PlastiCZ the most, interesting sounds.

I dislike how the "complex" oscillators work in JunoX.

Vanguard is OK but only good for old EDM/trance, but I'd rather use DUNE for that.

QuadraSID sounds nothing like SID, was a disappointment. More of a novelty.

Beast would be nice if it was not mono.

So yeah much prefer Synapse oldies like Scorpion, Wasp, Junglist, Hydra, Dune1

Btw unless you're making your own waves for Nexus, that plugin is shite . Not everyone with Nexus expansions will make money like Manian.

Synapse had a Wasp plugin? Didn't know that .-. I loved the old Wasp plugin from Image Line... And besides Hydra and Dune1 (still awesome) I didn't know the other old Synapse plugins...

And yeah, besides Vanguard, PlastiCZ is the most interesting old plugin for me, too. It has really nice presets and can make really unique sounds. QuadraSID has some interesting sounds, too, but it really sounds nothing like a SID, and it looks really confusing.

Wasp was licensed to Image-Line by Synapse (original designer). They tended to license a lot of stuff early on like SimSynth, DX10, DrumSynth Live. Cubase also had a similar practice with Waldorf A1 and mda JX16.

Same thing for TS404, which before inclusion in Fruity Loops was a standalone EXE synth. Synapse made a DAW called Orion that had many exclusive synths, including Wasp V, which is an enhanced Wasp XT with oscillator "Fat" knob (works similar to Vanguard).

Really off-topic, but I once used FL slayer on a joke track in my early days on a track and thought it was obvious that it wasn't real. Then people unironically said: "wow, I didn't know you could play guitar that well"
That really made me think of the ears most people have and that I maybe put way too much effort in my tunes

I would love to have that. I used it a lot up to a point...

 

Slayer is one of the best guitar simulations ever.. Its not a perfect rendition but it has a character of its own and sits in the mix like a real guitar without alot of processing for it to sit in there. Just a great plugin, no matter when it was created.

 

There is no 64 bit version.
