Could anyone help me get my old Nexus 2 Expansions into Nexus 4.5.13??

What are these for exactly and where do they go location wise?

 

If you have Nexus 2.2 already installed along with all the Xpansion then there is no problem. Just rename your old Nexus.dll as Nexus 2.dll and then You just install the Nexus v4. It will install itself to VstPlugin and VST3 directories and the other software files automatically in the older Nexus 2 Library /Content folder and all is good to go.The nexus 4 has the ability to and can decrypt the old nexus expansion presets. Now You can use now both the Nexus 2, for running old nexus expansion (great for old projects) and Nexus4 Plugin( for playing both the older and newer Expansions).

But if you didn't have Nexus 2 installed then there is little problem.

You cannot use older expansion with nexus 4 as old nexus 2 Xpansion library are encrypted and there is no way to import them into the "Nexus Content" directory of Nexus 4 system folder.

So for this you have to begin with a clean installation of Nexus. Delete all nexus files from drives. If any back up nexus file is on hard drive, place it on back up/portable drives and detach it. From PC. Clean all Nexus files. Once done then install Nexus 2 first and then import all your older libraries with ease. All older Expansions now works in old Nexus 2.

Then you can follow the above process from Ist paragraph to install Nexus 4. Just install and enjoy..
Then install the Nexus 3/Nexus 4 Expansions as you like. You will see the Nexus 4 plugin has automatically detected all the older expansion of Nexus 2 along with newer expansion (if installed any). Moreover the Nexus 2 plugin will also load but it can detect and play only the old expansion.

They are image files of Nexus Expansions and goes into
AppData\Roaming\reFX\cloud\cache\images

 

Projects Cubase 12 from the last version (4.5.4) do not work with this new version 4.5.13, Nexus does not load. Is there a solution?

Okay, part of this kind of confused me even more lol

I saw someone comment:

"I’ve just copied over one of my 500 or so Nexus 2.3.2 non-ReFX expansions, and it works perfectly in Nexus 4, without contacting the ReFX servers (as far as I can tell - the message about contacting the server to convert the old format to Nexus 4 format, or whatever it said, no longer appears) and SOME of the 2.3.2 non-ReFX presets have previews when you click on them. (I don't know why, but some folders have previews, and others don't). So a major improvement - now I can copy over all of my 500+ Nexus 2.3.2 preset packs and use them on Nexus 4."

Yes the above procedure can work.

For the above procedure to work you have to have Nexus 4 installed and already working with its factory xpansions
Then you can follow the copy/paste procedure of old nexus 2 Expansions. It will simply work.
So assuming you already have old nexus and expansion installed.
First copy the whole nexus content folder containing the old presets and samples folders to a back up drive.
Uninstall old nexus
Clean
Install nexus 4
Install factory rom 3 & 4 Xpansions
Use library detection tool or edit settings.json file to detect the library
Start nexus 4 and play for confirmation
Once your nexus 4 is up and running you just copy and paste the whole old nexus back up to the new directory in their respective folders and merge them.
Hope it works now. Please let me know if it works

 

It's probably because those later expansions have preview files inside the folders like NKS unlike the old Xpansion which doesn't have the same

Just an FYI. I had V2.2 content with a bunch of expansions-presets installed on an an old external drive I used with WIN7 and V2.2. I copied over (and replaced when prompted) EVERYTHING EXCEPT data.ndb and Skins folder to the V4 content directory on SSD. Sampled tons of V2 presets and they work great. Tested V4 presets to make sure didn't mess something up and no issues thus far. It also appears to have fixed issues with the '30,000" V2 presets that many did not work for me and errored saying something was missing. Of course , never will use most and did mostly as a test. NOTE: The presets are available for browsing-searching but not part of DB of course as they were not 'installed'. My 4.5.13 only has V3 Factory and a handful of the newer XP extensions-expansions.

 

You made mention of reinstalling Nexus 4, should I reinstall Nexus 2 as well or can I leave it alone?
Also, which folder/directory do I copy the old Nexus 2 files to exactly?

Do you get any freeing when selecting Nexus 2 presets?

Mine seems to freeze when trying to play N2 samples on Mac and PC.

Okay, I got everything installed now.

Uninstalled everything
Reinstalled Nexus 4
Installed Factory Rom 3 & 4
Merged N2 content with N4 Factory content
All old XPs show up and will play, HOWEVER,
It freezes DAW when selecting N2 files to the point I have to quit force quit DAW.

Having issue on both Mac and PC.

Any advice?

I only have WIN install, but no freezing. Tried V2 XP presets, 3rd party, user presets, etc. No issues
