I had to reinstall my Mac due to a problem then when I installed Nexus 3 and went to authorise it via their cloud, my license was refused. I sent a message asking for help and they were very rude, pretty much accusing me of copying the software to more than the permitted number of systems. When I said I had reinstalled my mac and they should expect this behaviour from producers, they banned me from purchasing any other products from their store and revoked my license stating that I had violated their EULA.

 

Can't comment on the original post as I don't know all the facts. What does bug me is the need to log in every 30 days or lose everything. If I buy a TV, car, computer or whatever I don't expect to have to go back to the shop every month to get permission to carry on using my purchase. I bought it and it's up to me how often I use what I bought. Whether I use something every day or once a year that's my choice. What if I ended up in hospital and it took more than 30 days to recover (which these days is not inconceivable) does that give REFX the right to cancel everything I paid for?

I understand it is in their terms of service but that only came in with the new cloud manager. What about those of us who paid lots of money for the product before this rule came in? Can we reject the terms and get a refund? I don't think so. The only other company that does this is Vengeance Sound (Avenger) but at least they give you 90 days.

If anyone come home to take it, he probably will come out dead.

But with software, companies do EVERYTHING they want : they activate/deactivate licences, they close your customer account, they block licence transfer, they take your personal datas ... and they even INSULT you !

You don't BUY a software : you RENT it
It is NOT yours

It is time for ReFx customers to open a GLOBAL internet counter attack.

the RefX website states that no more than three computers. Usually, developers clearly limit the number of computers on which a plugin can be installed. Therefore, it is impossible to violate this requirement even purely technically.
The man wrote that he did just that: installed it on three computers.
So why then ban this user ???
And yes, it is lawlessness that they turned off the product and did not return the money! This is stealing!

I'm not sure why you're being sceptical about this. Nothing OP has said has given cause for scepticism -- it's not like he's someone who has just signed up to spout this story, and another user has since come along and independently said pretty much exactly the same thing happened to him. Is he making it up or exaggerating as well?

I think the reason you're taking such a sceptical position is probably because you find it unlikely that any modern business could behave in such a high handed and dishonest manner towards its paying customers.

Just to clarify: It doesn't matter if you don't use it for a couple of months, the next time you fire it up it just needs to authorize again and its good for another 30 days. They don't make you use it within every 30 days or give you the boot!

 

It seems to be like paying exorbitantly for the privilage of not being imprisoned and needing to visit your parole officer regularly to check in or else you lose your freedom, money spent and all that precious time. Schiesser should actually be spelled Scheisse.

Other than that I am always shocked to hear about the escapades of Vengeance Sound and REFX. Their products are attractive to me, but not like this.
