i feel like you are not telling us the whole story. but even if you are, i followed your link, and read this:

    Activating NEXUS3
The first time you load NEXUS3 in your DAW, you are asked for your login credentials to activate NEXUS3. Use the same email address and password you use for reFX Cloud or to log in on reFX.com.

To deactivate NEXUS3, simply load the plug-in in your DAW, click on the 3-dot menu next to your avatar in the top right corner, and select 'sign out'.

You may have NEXUS3 activated on a maximum of three computers at any time.

You can use NEXUS3 while you are offline but you need to have the plug-in connect to the internet at least once every 30 days to keep the authorization active.

okay, but that is taken from the reference manual, which says at the very bottom:

    Disclaimer

The information in this document is subject to change without notice and does not represent a commitment on the part of reFX. The software described by this document is subject to a License Agreement and may not be distributed. No part of this documentation may be copied, reproduced or otherwise transmitted or recorded, for any purpose, without prior written permission by reFX.

you need to click on the EULA link at the bottom of the page to see the current end user license agreement.

That certainly sounds like a scam to me. It also doesn't address the second half of his complaint, which is when he raised the issue with them of being banned because he'd installed the software on three machines, in accordance with their advertised standards, rather than helping him resolve the issue, they were just rude to him.

Who runs a business like that?

Write about it on all social networks, on all forums and in all comments. Attack them until they stop behaving this way. This is disgusting! I also have a Nexus installed on two computers and now I worry, because they can turn me off, and they will keep the money for themselves. Lawlessness!

Definitely blow this up at Gearslutz & KVR. If EVERYTHING you're saying is the truth they should face legal action via a class-action suit. Not sure how international courts work, but there are enough similar instances where this has happened & it's time to hold these companies accountable. Big tech is under a lot of fire recently & that should work to your benefit... Hopefully.

first of all, anyone who ever buys software needs to read the end user license agreement first before they buy. second - like i said previously - i don't think we are being told the entire story here. third - reference manuals go out of date very quickly. never rely on a reference manual for important legal issues.

it isn't a scam to update the terms of your eula and not update your reference manual. they are two separate documents and they are independent of each other. that is why they put the disclaimer at the end of the reference manual.

now, as to the customer service issue, i 100% agree with you that it seems like refx could have handled the issue better. but we don't really know how that conversation went, do we? maxjon could have resolved this issue quite simply by just deactivating one of his three installs. he can't use all three at the same time anyway. the eula says you can install the product on as many devices as you want, but only two canbe activated at any one time. maybe maxjon was a beligerant jerk with customer support and refused to accept the fact that he was violating the terms of the eula.

wow. i am going to backtrack a little from what i said. but only a little. the reference manual is not considered a sales tool, so i really wasn't giving that argument much weight. but, the refx website has a frequently asked questions section. and right there in the faq is this:

2.4 How many computers can I use NEXUS3 on?
NEXUS3 can be activated on three of your computers at any time, so you can easily work on your desktop and laptop computers.

For more details, please refer to the NEXUS3 manual.
so boom!. that's your leg to stand on if you're going to push this in a public forum.

but a word of caution: the page that has the faq also says this:

For pre-sale questions, please create an account first.

since you only have it installed on two computers, you have no need to worry. you can actually install it on as many of your computers as you want, but you can only activate it on two at a time. this is to stop people from buying the software and then share it with a bunch of their friends - or even worse sell it to others. and if you violate that part of the license, you can expect to be shut down as soon as they find out (which is 30 days or less since you have to log in once every 30 days to keep the license activated). and this is definitely not anything close to lawlessness. it is a very standard software license. when you buy software, you don't actually own anything. you are being granted the right to use the software unless you violate the terms of your agreement (the eula). good luck trying to change that law by complaining on social media.

What do you guys mean by being banned?
Don't tell me that you need to be connected to the internet permanently in order to use their software?
