TapeTron is a collection of sampled instruments from a beautifully restored M400, consisting of over 1,400 full length WAV files.
There are a total of nine tape banks sampled from the original instrument (Flute, Viola, Cello, Chamber Woodwinds, Choir, Strings, Bass Clarinet, and Piano).
In addition, there are four instruments that are modern day recreations of the sounds from the M400, made from real musicians in the studio (Z Flute, Z Clarinet, Z Sax, and Z Violin) with vibrato variations.



When comparing other “Mello” sample libraries to the real vintage M400, we found two main differences: 1) each time you press a key on the M400, something slightly different happens due to the mechanical process of playing a tape, and 2) when you press the keys very lightly, the tapes are played part way, with lots of warble and distortion.
To account for the differences, we multi-sampled each tape bank, so it has layers of round robin sampling and a velocity layer of “half-pressed” keys when you play them lightly.
The recording chain was through a Brent Averill 1073 and Mytek converters. And as usual at Redtape Samples, there is no post-processing…just the raw full length WAV files in all their glory!
The sample library is 1.41 GB, and each download includes all the necessary files for Logic’s EXS24 and Kontakt.
Requires a full version of Kontakt, will only work in “demo” mode with the free Kontakt Player

Funny how this instrumet are sampled over and over again! Odd they dont show anything about how it works as a Kontakt library ---- nothing about scripting etc. only a a sound demo .... makes me a bit worried!
