What irritates me is that the player, the mixer and the interface are the same as before when it worked with Wavelab.
Now this doesn't work with Audacity and even anylonger with Wavelab.
Since the audio is audible, the hardware and software setup up to the interface/PC seems to be ok...

He was getting a signal in Audacity with the mixer output going into mic inputs CH1+CH2 on the front. The preamp gain was turned down was turned down so the signal was low. This is all about selecting the right channel as the input channel and monitoring before capture.

Wavelab can do ASIO so if the driver installed: Choose ASIO - Plug the line outs into the back of the interface. Select Channel3 and Channel4 as a stereo pair. Arm the track by hitting the red circle and hit record.

We all forget how to do things.

Have you tried recording something to see if it gets a signal? When you press record another small screen appears and shows the incoming signal are you getting that? You say the mics work .Do you mean they show up as a strong signal? If so try recording something to see if you get a signal and a recording. This will tell us that the Pro is working and the signal is getting to the software.

Just speak for yourself. :winker:

Right, but he knows it because he had already done it. And the inputs 1&2 are for mics, line and instruments, so that's not the problem.

Maybe reinstall the drivers for the Pro? It does seem there is a problem with it connecting with software . There is the possibility that it has just stopped working. If the software is seeing it as an option it must be available so the cable connecting must be working. If the Pro has signals showing then it's receiving from the source . So as it's not working with either software the signal is not going any further. Try the Driver.

It happens to me all the time.

I can't tell you how mornings I've looked down at my shoe laces and wondered momentarily WTF am I supposed to with these things.

Soon it will be Velcro and slip-on loafers only for me.

    @funkman

Open mix control and check to see if you have levels there. If you have a level reading on the interface LEDs but not in the control software then something is wrong with the driver or maybe even the interface though it is unlikely since you are getting a solid reading on the LEDs.

Can you play audio back through the interface from the computer?

As you channels are set in the image you should be able to plug in to the line inputs on the back. Create two mono tracks. Choose Channel3 on one of them and pan L, choose Channel 4 on the other pan R and monitor and record.

To be honest though at this point it might just be easier to by a cheap usb phono-adapter and use that instead. The amount of time and frustration involved can't be worth it.

i know for a fact that the pro 24 is no longer supported on windows 10.
the FW light on the front sometimes cuts out(it has been on when im trying to do what we trying to do here)
i have installed legacy drivers for firewire which works for the FW light problem.

someone suggested usb to phono adapter.where am i meant to put that? keep it clean!

Although it might not apply .. who knows!!?

After using Google and searching the problem I found quite a few people with problems with the pro 24 interface. These range from cables not properly working to turning things off in the BIOS and like above the sample rate setting defaults . You could always contact Focusrite help.

the oldest one,i got some error when opening wavelab
the second oldest one i didnt get the error, but still no levels
the box that appears when i press record,i just happened to notice a square with a number on it
i opened it and it revealed outputs
i deselected 1 and 2 and selected 3 and 4 and we are now sucking fuel of the diesel kind

Focusrite's "Focusrite Control" software sucks. It is the successor to "Mix Control", but it is probably safe to assume it also sucks.

If your tables work and are grounded to the mixer; your problem will almost always be inside the Focusrite software.

Glad it worked out. Selecting the correct inputs was the issue all along. Good times and happy recording.

    Cheers.
