Crossgridder? You can use it to run Windows plugins inside your DAW. Not everything mind you, but quite a bit. There is a list of what won't work floating around. But you can then just use Parallels Desktop or a "real" VM anyway.

This is incorrect information when phrased this way. You can only downgrade the MacOS version to whatever it shipped with.
Anything after that will work. That is the earliest version you will get to run.

No Idea Man. Ableton doesn't support Intel Vst [only Au] -- The latest U2B is 3.3.4 TRAZOR. It'll not run Stockholm or Stories though.

But REAPER supports AU format plugins. Is that different on Silicon macs?

I guess I'll stay with NTFS. I have no problems with Tuxera & why change stuff when everything works. And Yeah Acustica too works flawless [In Ableton 12 it's somehow 2x fast than before] & Nebula too [Tim p. Time Modulation] works fine.

How do I get to Monterey from Ventura... seems only Sonoma is available as an update... do I make an installer USB drive like the old days... and where do I get the installer from? Would be nice to have the Ventura installer aswell

you can download sonoma through the app store and no need to make an installer drive, the installer does it all by itself. it even allows installing on external drives, just run it and the rest will be explained.

    Hi.

Sonoma has known issues on ExFat HDD format. Other filesystems Works.

The inserted drive is not show and not accessible for 20-40 minutes when you plug it in. After this time works.
There is a big post on Community page of Apple with about hundreds of users with same identical problem. Is well described and there are also several workarounds. The Exfat drives brick the disk utility app until is not loaded (depend from dimensions but in my case a 4gb HDD is unrechable for 30 minutes when i connect usb port)

you will read Apple for some reason is not interested to solve the problem.

In my case i use Exfat to share documents with Windows machines and is impossible to work.

    Report the link:

    https://discussions.apple.com/threa...he_full_discussion-en-us-11282023&sortBy=best

i suggest you to order post by newest or oldest order because Apple moderators tend to Hide all negative comments in the default (best) order.

Also this aspect is remarked many time on the post.

Sonoma in my case also result very slow (imac intel 2019) respect ventura.

i hope this help to not waste time and money.

My work computer is is an M1 Air with Sonoma 14.3.1

I just tested reading a 64GB SD card formatted to exFAT... no problem whatsoever. I can copy files to the card without problem.

I then compared to my new M1 Air with Ventura 13.6.5 and it has same performance like on Sonoma, opening RAW files in preview takes the same amount of time.

Also read this report about the problem, where it says that it seems to be fixed with 14.2.1

    https://larryjordan.com/articles/caution-macos-sonoma-may-not-support-exfat/

Quoted from Larry Jordan in above link:
"UPDATE Jan. 4, 2024. On macOS Sonoma 14.2.1, I can format and access ExFAT-formatted SSDs and thumb drives. Hopefully, this means Apple has fixed this problem."

Why use exFat? Isn't APFS the Apple standard?

I am experiencing issues with ExFat way older than Sonoma. Is a format Apple is deprecating IMO.

ALWAYS one version behind current, so MacOS 13 Ventura today is our choice

EDIT: for legit and warez stuff, your primary concern is Apple Silicon native compatibility, not MacOS compatibility, although Reaper itself has clever internal bridging to run emulated Rosetta2 legacy plugins, it's more efficient to run M1/M2/M3-native plugins

My Nikon camera uses exFAT on memory cards... some people like to swap drives between Mac and PC
