The Reason UI is a quite fantastic invention. Incredibly flexible, and you can get complex things done quickly.

With an advanced UI like Reason's, the user is more often the limitation than the soft. It can do pretty much anything, but not everything is in the manual, you gotta figure stuff out yourself by creative use.

Oh, and RV7000 is probably the best soft reverb in existence.

Never found a use for it but after watching the video, I will say that the Scales and Chords feature could be interesting for those with no musical skills. Some of the other features it talks about also sound quite interesting as well. I will gladly take a gander at it when it comes out.

 

So, you 're telling me to stop using my Komplete 10 ultimate and some others very important plugins I have, just for that Reason?

still, it is such a beautiful program, with this emulation style, even an ssl console to master with

if you are good at making music then the vst limitations wont stop you making something great with reason

 

More like an Oligocene epoch redundancy. The type of synth/daw used by the missing Link to create chest pounding music. Hence why the drum sampler is called "Kong" - after the iconic movie beast "King Kong".
BUT, I am a total nerd when it comes to vintage audio software and gear. I like exploring that stuff. Like NI's Kompakt and Intakt, eMagic's Logic Audio 2, and stuff like that. LOL

 

i think you misunderstood me. i am not saying that at all!
vst support would have been cool, and as much as i would have like to have seen it too they will never do it (sadly) because it doesn't fit in with their rack approach to doing things.
if Props had allowed companies like NI to package RE versions of their plugins in their own bundles, then you never know we might have seen some of Komplete 10 in RE format by now

its only "in a way" better because REs fit in with the rack not just in size and layout, but in their connect-ability. i'll put a screenshot of 3 REs that also have AU/VST version and you'll see the potential interconnectivity they have goes far beyond the normal sidechain features in most DAWs.

 

Reasons' a beast, if you know how to work it. I used it as one of my live rigs for two years, back in 2002, never let me down. I still use it a lot on the road to get ideas down quick. 9 looks awesome.

I cant quite make it out from their website but does anyone know if those new Player devices are included in Reason 9 Essentials version?

 

I'm super hyped now, because it says "amazing" on the landing page! ;)

I liked the backwards MIDI idea at first. But then I realized it is something you have to do with audio, otherwise it doesn't have the same desired effect. It deosn't make sense based on MIDI because the whole ADSR Envelope would have to be reversed as well to get the same effect you would get from reversing audio.

I have both Logic and Cubase, I need to close my eyes on the other DAWs. They will always come with something interesting to tease you; it's business, they must make money. I'm OUT !

 

propellerheads are their own worst enemy. i have used it in the past ( up to about 5 i think) but their stubbornness to overhaul the utterly inflexible GUI has made me lose interest. that and it still sounds a bit ..anemic.. to me anyway.
bless them for rebirth back in the day though. and the rex format..

 

I keep a DG4 box with the original cd in the drive just for nostalgic reasons (no pun int. ).

Side note: Reason 9 has been out for a week and I had no idea.
