    Reason Rack Plugin
    • Reason 11 comes with Reason Rack Plugin, a plugin version of Reason's rack with all the devices included for use in any DAW. Fully compatible with your Rack Extensions and patch compatible with all devices and Combinators.
    Devices
    • Sweeper Modulation Effect, an advanced phaser/flanger/filter with extensive modulation options for both classic and crazy modulation.
    • Quartet Chorus Ensemble, four flavors of chorus and ensemble effects from bread-and-butter widening to experimental effects.
    • Master Bus Compressor, the compressor from Reason's mixer available as a rack device. Perfect for a drum bus.
    • Channel Dynamics, the dynamics section from Reason's mixer. Add modeled compression, gating or expansion to any sound—try it in a Combinator.
    • Channel EQ, the EQ section from Reason's mixer. Combine with the Channel Dynamics for a complete channel strip you can use anywhere in your signal chain.
    Workflow and technical improvements
    • Curved automation, simply drag the line between two automation points up or down to curve the line.
    • Crossfades, overlap two audio clips and either choose Crossfade from the context menu or press the X key to crossfade. Drag the crossfade to adjust.
    • Improved zoom, you can now drag the sequencer track dividers to adjust the vertical size of the track. Tracks can have individual sizes and the Zoom to Selection function can now zoom both horizontally and vertically.
    • Mute MIDI notes, use the Mute Tool or press M to mute selected MIDI notes.
    • New Pencil Tool mode, use the new multi-note Pencil to quickly draw a series of notes at the same resolution as your snap value. You can quickly toggle between the two modes by pressing Ctrl (Win) or Option (Mac) when using the Pencil tool.
    • Absolute Snap, a new setting in the inspector that always snaps what you're moving to the grid.
    • Key visualization, in Edit Mode you will now see both played and selected MIDI notes in the piano roll to easier see what's going on.
    • Octave shortcut, using cmd+shift+up/down (Mac) or ctrl+shift+up/down (Win) to quickly move selected MIDI notes up or down in octave increments.
    • Draw automation point at same level, hold Shift while drawing a new automation point to place it on the existing automation line
    • Bug fixes (to be detailed)

Reason: we haven't been relevant since 2011, so now we're competing fiercely for those... Soundtoys dollars? I look forward to them having a swear jar or something included in their daw, so when ppl have to use their tech, maybe they'll get more cash?

Whoaaaaa! I'm in agreement about Reason, but I have some serious love for Soundtoys products. Why the hate, bra? :woot:

Although, they have been trying to sell the same 10 plugs with different deals for the last 5 years....but I'm happy with my total pack.

I used to love Reason (1 to 4) but they lost connection to the ground ("hell freezing" you know?).
Reason is not a bad piece of software, but they thought the market would follow them for too long.

I think they are bankrupt, they just didn't get it yet.

Propellerhead: Someone said that Reason "hasn't been relevant since 2011"
Cubase: I can feel your pain bro! :(
Pro Tools: We were in your shoes for a long time mate, then uTopia came along! However, we're back to being irrelevant for the last 3 years or so man.
Bitwig: I am new and took a few shots already but I start to feel your pain too.
Universal Audio: Guys, don't even ask me! They use me as a joke for April Fools Day. That's how irrelevant I've been :dont:
VPS Avenger: I just got to be super relevant just a couple weeks ago

    Exactly.

Unfortunately it took them more than 15 years to understand the relevance of the vst standard. We can forgive them for not supporting Vsti during the 1st two versions but after that, it was clearly a strategic blunder.

And last but not least: the dongle. This is surely stopping some potential buyers and unfortunately for them, they are far to be in Steinberg's position who can allow itself to lose a few customers from time to time.

I sincerely hope that they will make the necessary adjustments because Reason was a great idea that was poorly implemented so far.

when i saw the title i thought i would be the first to bash it but it look like you guys did a pretty good job before me

personally i tried the first 2 versions ,i wasnt sure how to create tracks and layers with these racks
in the beginning and who remember that kinetic from cakewalk ?
oh yeah i was editing and and exporting as wavs to e-jay dance back in the days lol
at least thats how i making tracks before going to fruity loops for a year and then studio one until now

no high hopes for R11 ..except europa vst ,its the only good thing from that company
and it need more new patches

Edit : it seems most of us dont like reason so why im the only one who got 'dislike''
(from reason fan ObVIOUSLY :dunno: )

    well... i disliked the dislike
    ..and reason still sucks :bleh:

from the first version they failed, the GUI is awfull and not changed since version 1, its just amazing that they still adopt the same GUI today, reason is like a puzzle, how do i do this how do i do that, nothing is easy, ok so they implemented vst support, but how long did it take to realise it, i can see propellaheads going the same way as cakewalk did, you think they would learn from other DAWS, but no they dont, i think its just stupid to think that it can still cut it with the big guns, time will tell, but sorry reason 11 is another reason it will fail.

Story time (sorry to bore some of you lol)
i was sold already at thier Tb303 clone. Rebirth back in the day. Used to make sequences with that and then exported as audio and intro a Tracker for "propper production" rofl. Then Reason1-4 was my steady workhorse. it tought me so much about every aspect of making music. sure it was limited and it had its "sound" but that was also a part of the charm. feelt like a natural progression going from Trackers, into simuler familer ground, but also has all this "normal studio approatch" with hardware emu stuff". Then later left at version 5 for Cubase and havent looked back since.

A physical dongle isn't required (it's optional). Using the CodeMeter software you can authorize one computer to run without a dongle or internet access. Additionally you can install Reason on as many computers as you want and use either online login or a dongle. It's really not bad.

I bought Reason 10 a while back for nostalgia's sake (I got my start with v2) and I found a dirt cheap license on eBay. It's fun to play around with and the MIDI devices (Players, they call them) are excellent. But for sure it ain't ever gonna replace Ableton Live for me.

Oh it hasn't been that awful. At least not compared to other programs at that time. But it never was intuitive. You really needed to learn how to handle it. People who learnt it can use Reason even today.
But you are right: It's unbelieveable they didn't do any major changes ever since.

It would be interesting to see their sales divided in new licenses and updates. I'm convinced they mostly live from updates as they actually do have a loyal user base, but most likely only a minority would buy Reason new.
