I've paid for protools for 15+ years and I'm getting so sick of it! Not the paying part - the BS, the errors, the workflow etc... Can anyone point me to a wicked tutorial or series that is relatively current to get me knowledgeable and proficient in Reaper before next year lol?

if you already know the concepts , just search for what you want (reaper mania is a great source but always watch in 2x) or ask here or ask in reaper forum , tutorials are often for complete beginners and are boring as hell ,reaper is quite inuitive and easy to learn and once you learn custom actions the transition will be very easy

 

kenny is the Lord of Reaper .. i wonder why some people hate his voice though (the way he's saying) ..

 

Its easy to hate because you don't have to explain why. Nobody wants to hear that. It is hard to appreciate something and explain why. People chose the easy way. You don't have to be smart to hate. (Deep, Ha?)

Man, I started configuring my device with an Adam Steel 1 hr vid and 6 min in it crashed Reaper hard! I re-installed and have to start from scratch. Now I'm not sure if I would want his course lol! Free maybe lol.

Edit: Adam Steel actually has some helpful tips, didn't mean to sound too harsh - just sayin'

"This is Reaper 6" tutorial is so essentials for everyone just started Reaper imho. It's on Reaper website. Pretty much covers all the basic. It's like tour guide.. getting to know things around Reaper. Once done and mastered all the basic throughly, you can share your discovery to your ProTools friend and send this music video if you like, and tell them how you feel bout Reaper.. like Who's bad.. ~

Another vote for Kenny Gioia. His vocal cadence IS kind of off-putting, but the man is a REAPER scholar.

 

I am a total newb at audio production but I have always watched Kenny Gioia's vids at more than 1x speed. It's relatable and and well advised. Kenny's tutorials are great tbh.

 

for scripting reaper, python tuts is totally worth it since recently. thanks to python-reapy package made by contributors recently. it allows non-usable python libraries to be use (before this it will crash reaper, tkinter gui will block keyboard focus etc).. with python-reapy we can now make use of pyqt5, wxpython gui for example.. it's a bless.. just enough basic python tuts + any gui of your choice would do.. i personally went for wxpython for cross platform native gui look.. also forgot to mention you can look for how to reascript tuts on google.. *not an expert but do explore reascript side + python* #hfun #vscode #codingfonttobi #andalemono #lol
