    200 = enhanced (expanded) stereo.

    0=Mid channel
    100=stereo balance (original)
    200=Sides channel

    Edit: Scrap that. I thought of another plugin that plays only Sides at 200%.

    so at 100 is MID + SIDES

    and 200 only sides? (No mids)

    is this correct?

    thanks!

    No. 100 -> 0 stereo image gets smaller, 100 -> 200 stereo image gets wider but center is still there and audible.

    Yes.
    Edit: Crap. I mistook the plugin for another plugin. 200% is NOT Sides only.
    Move along.

    @Baxter, you're wrong, that's a first, AFAIK (happens to the best :winker:).

    This is so easy to demonstrate and prove. Crossover set to 0, Width is increasing from 0 to 200

    200% is doubled the amount of original sides content in volume but the Mid/Center/Mono content unchanged. Atleast that is how it is with DMG Dualism that has 800% Width capability. You can tweak the width up to 800% and the mid content will stay unchanged when you listen in mono but then you'll lose all the realism of the stereo image in the mix when you listen in stereo.

    Crap! You are right! I mistook it for another plugin that does the same thing (where 200 is Sides only). My bad.

    in what way does stereo become more stereo....from 100 to 200

    at 100 aren't the channels already full on 100% to the left and 100% to the right?

    i'm trying to understand what exactly happens from 100 to 200

    thanks!

    The level of the sides is raised, the center remains where it was.
    Track 1 and 2 sides level only, Track 2 Width set to 200

    Assuming you understand the Mid/Side theory enough, it is that simple really. The volume on the Side content doubled. On most cases, the Sides content volume is 1/8 or 1/4 of the overall volume of the mix, when you crank the stereo width to 200%, the volume of the Side content just double and it's not that big of a difference if it is really low at the beginning. It will just result in the Stereo "Image" becomes wider than before. If it the stereo image is already too wide, the 200% added width will make some of the elements in the mix feels like out of the stereo image and will remove the sense of placement, realism and (at its extremes) depth from the mix a bit (or a lot, depends). Why you care about 200% ? what about this :

    I must add that too wide of a mix will make the listener feel dizzy and fatigue because of too much out of phase content. It has to do with psycho-acoustics effects and how our brain perceive the sound/wave.
