No dude, mine wasnt it was disabled. When i first started using Reaper it was much annoying for first two days, then i figured out that FX could be drag dropped like other DAWs. Switched the shortcut Shift+F to toolbar from FX browser vice versa, and never looked back.

 

Right, some def settings are in fact improvable.

 

FX browser filter options:



U can click the option tab above or just right click below the pane which brings this menu which is just both menus combined:
They do what is just said there.
1. Always search bla bla.. Searches all the FX regardless which section is selected, like for ex. developers or such.
2. Auto clear folder change - clears the search field when different folder or section is selscted.
3. Auto clear on close.. clears the search field when FX browser is closed, when unchecked just leaves the field with whatever u typed.
4. Auto clear on blah bla blew blew... selecting it just forgets or resets selected the folder or section u previously selected as soon as browser is closed.

Would it be possible to make a reaper script that Renders a track inside the project and inserts the render into a new Take Lane on the same track?

Kinda like 'Bounce In Place' from Logic, etc.

i think the guy was saying he wants it to go into a new take on the same track, freeze makes a new track and mutes the old one. not sure how big a problem that is, but slightly different than what i'm thinking of anyway.

 

Yeah, it's cause I'm mixing like a raw punk band session, so there will be continuity in the sound for the whole project so I want to keep them in 1 project... But the mics got moved during tracking the drums apparently so my thought was to use AutoAlign and Time Adjustment Delay (and my ears of course) to get the phase right per song and render them as new takes so I can always step back if I hear something that needs to be adjusted later. For the time being I came up with an alternative solution lol

hey i didnt check this out but description is exactly what you're looking for i think. it says "render whole items as new take" i render a ton of stuff, and am OCD about not losing anything (so i can go back like you want to be able to) basically what i do is not freeze the tracks but just render them into a new track, then i'll open up the old one that's muted, put any VSTS in offline and then take off the screen visually using the track manager. so it's not clogging up extra space... or sometimes i skip that and my projects are ugly.

Fill Mode for Color brightness:

If ur media item colors are too bright or too dull, u can adjust the brightness of the item background, open "theme Tweaker" from action and search for fill mode. Click on 'Media Item background fill mode' and try different options like Normal, add, overlay, multiply etc. amd try different Alpha values, as seen below.



(Imp) And save the theme in increment or rename/save theme with a different name. So u wont loose the original theme and get back when u want.
U can even try other fill modes, like for time selection etc.

With souk21's script you can easily choose between different buffer sizes via toolbar-menu. Very useful imo.

 

AS of V 7.12 this option works no more as mentioned already. They might have realized its pointless.
