Me too. Thankfully, I can ignore it to some amount and focus of the high valuable content.

Really? I as a non native speaker find it extremely distracting. I really have to focus on ignoring it.

in what ways is it better than logic? I have reaper downloaded but not installed... I have been using logic for over 10 years so Id like to switch but think I'll get stumped with the workflow. I mainly wanna use it for the zplane algorithms

I don't know how many ways it's better, but it's cheaper, has more frequent updates, an more support than most products. you can watch tons of tutorials that they provide and you can modify the program. I use 2 reapers: one out of internet with my cracked stuff and and one with internet so I can study tutorials and learn more. If you watch the one on surround pan you'll see how deep it goes.

At 8:22 in the first video you can see that the algorithm doesn't differentiate between relevant audio and irrelevant one. It increases loudness gain for the reverb tail (which naturally is quieter), but you don't want the reverb tail to become louder under normal circumstances.

BTW: How do you keep overview over the many settings and options in Reaper? I mean: it's amazing what can be done with Reaper, but all these features are barely integrated into a consistent, intuitively 'graspable' UX. I guess wealth of features and customizability comes with some downsides.

Yes, because the algorithm is nothing more than a loudness measurement.
Depends on what you mean by UX. But I would answer the question as follows: With customizations and installation management.

For each task (testing, music recording/editing/mixing, voice-over recording/editing/mixing, mastering) I have a separate configuration with different screensets, track-defaults, custom-actions, mouse behavior, etc. Every single menu (no matter if menu-bar or right-click-menu) is customized for the corresponding task. Scripts and plugins are installed individually for the different configurations (because of the different needs) and are managed by me via ReaPack. This means that for each task only what is needed for the task is available. No more and no less.

It took me about 1 hour to set up each configuration. Now the configurations are saved in multiple locations. If I have to, I run a task (except recording) directly via cloud if the bandwidth is available.

this shitty song doesnt need this much work. audio is already compressed and autotuned (ruined) so...

i managed to finish my first project in reaper, which sets it above cakewalk lol.
rendering, it seems to have really good options for audio and that sounded good. but it was a video project and those options seemed a little light.
it was fun, i think i'll do another one

Reaper never not working on some useful capabilities. Got to love it!

Just heard about the new bata with oversampling on fx chain. Fantastic!

Thanks mild pump milk for the news.

Dec 30: they released a good beta update, which has one of the new feature - oversampling per-FX Chain....

Interesting.... Is it something like DDMF Metaplugin style oversampling for reaper chain? Does it include oversampling for synths as well? And the quality of oversampling? Filter? Steepness? Phase, iir/fir? Aliasing?
    Reaper becomes anti-digital? Hahahaha

:thumbsup:One great update in a month or two. Since a few months, they are focusing on plugins and jsfx. Feels good to rely less on 3rd party plugins.

I just started going through the jsfx again and there are truly some great things in there.

Many seem to be emulating third party plugins without the fancy gui.

    BTW: Happy New Year!

    That's not the point.

    Rather 1 - 4 updates per month.
