I have some drum midi...but i want to select only the hihats for example to change their velocity

    i select them all

and then i use the control key to change velocities like drawing but the midi notes of kick/snare etc are affected as well

how can i do this only for the hi hat in this case

    thanks

Doubt you can draw that precisely having full blown MIDI sequence, best thing is to separate that event into different parts and work on specific one.

I don't know how you're working with MIDI, so here's what I do:

    - Make sure you have no notes selected
    - Right click once on the note for hi-hats in the piano on the left side.

    - This selects all hi-hat notes. Zoom in if you don't see it. You can now change all hi-hat velocities together in whatever manner you prefer, including:

    - Dragging velo handles in the velo lane.
    - Drawing in the velo lane.
    - Dragging velo up/down in the MIDI editor.
    - Ctrl-F2 and enter +/- in the velo field.
    - Context menu.

The changes will only affect selected notes - with my settings anyway.

do you have kick/snare/hi hat on same midi item?

i think the notes of hi hat need to be selected /F2 event properties and put on another channel for that to work in this case otherwise kick/snare etc are affected too when "drawing in" patterns with ctrl

Yes, I have a full kits in the same item.

I don't know if this is default, but this is how I have it set up:

In other words, regular drawing follows note selection, Ctrl overrides selection.
So I just don't hold Ctrl.
