If I'm not wrong, In MIDI editor, go to Actions->Show action list; then in filter put note names

    Edit: I'm wrong:unsure:

In the MIDI Editor, from the header menu select "View>Piano Roll Notes>Show Note Names On Notes".

Exactly. It is just a representation on the full MIDI editor, not a separate editor. Most if not all of the view & functionality options must be set in the main editor.

BTW...You can dbl-click the inline editor header to open the full editor or press the E shortcut key to go back & forth between states.

i believe the default shortcut for inline editor is 'E'. After that press alt+0 to view named notes, IOW its the shortcut for the action "show note names on notes" its under the view menu on the top of midi editor or right click on the bottom to bring the menu.

To be honest in my Reaper (6) the inline editor does not work at all, though there is the option item-open inline editor.
So still sticking to main midi editor.

U mean the action in the action window... right. If there is no short cut assigned to that action, try and assign one. use that shortcut to open inline editor or just simply select a midi item and open action widow search for that action double click it, see if it works.

    Default KB shortcuts; https://user.cockos.com/~glazfolk/ReaperKeyboardShortcuts.pdf
