so i followed the steps as per video

and i managed to make the open hi hat choke when the closed hi hat plays

    but the issue is

when i use triangle shaped midi notes which are very short in length...(as drum midi) the open hi hat stops much earlier than its supposed to....because as per instructions of the video i have to select "obey note off" for open hi hat

i don't know how this could be fixed.......unless i have to switch to normal notes in the midi editor and lengthen the note...which is a bit inconvenient each time

Why don't you write your midi drums as regular midi information? More shortcuts?

i write it as midi but...with drums...its more convenient to write it using the diamond or triangular shape of midi notes.. not the regular lenghty ones (the rectangular notes)

if you hover over triangular/diamond notes it says (Drum mode)..its meant for drums

You should focus on production basics before you start learning tricks from people who don't know what they are doing either.

The default MIDI editor note display gives you full editing options such as right drag or left drag editing. To lengthen the note in triangle or diamond mode, select the note(s) to edit, right click & Event Properties. Here you can manually adjust the note length.

Why would you do this to yourself? It's like writing in step sequencer.

Just add the three View: Show events as commands to your tool bar. Click on rectangles, adjust the note length and click on triangles again:

You can see in the Event list editor that they keep the length.
