One thing i really don't like in Reaper, using Melodyne 4.2+ is the fact that you have to insert the VST3 plugin version of Melodyne
on the Audiotrack that you wanna process with Melodyne.
I wished there just was a native Action in Reaper that would open Melodyne in it's dedicated window for the selected Audiotrack.
(just like how it works in Studio One).

Aah well, i am guessing there could be a workaround for this: saving a Track with Melodyne VST3 inserted as a Track Template.
And then recalling that Track Template with a keyshortcut.

Yeah the situation is the same in Samplitude. You can insert the vst2 ofc but you won't get the ara (still 1 in sam afaik) implementation then....
Can't wait for Reaper next update I've already updated melodyne. ARA2 finally!

ARA will not be in this version
Probably too much bugs. Too early

I think ARA support is restrained for the big 6. Which is not a bad thing.

There are still small issues & exclusions in Logic concerning ARA.

VST2 is no longer being supported by Steinberg. Once more features are added/turned on in VST3, most issues should be resolved.

The following is directly from Steinberg:

VST 2 coming to an end
    May 16, 2018

Late 2013 we announced that the Software Development Kit (SDK) for VST 2 would no longer be maintained and would only be available as subset of the VST 3 SDK. Five years down the line and this transitional phase is now also coming to an end.

From October 2018 onward we are closing down the second version of VST for good. While the VST 2 SDK has been unavailable, and so have maintenance and technical support, the subset within the VST 3 SDK will also be omitted.

VST 2 compatibility with Steinberg VST hosts will remain, however, we recommend to root for the latest version of VST. VST 2 was introduced in 1999 and since then the technology has evolved dramatically. Since 2008, the SDK for the third iteration of VST, VST 3, has been available and since then efforts are focused entirely on the further development of VST 3.

“We appreciate that developers and users alike gravitate strongly toward the VST 3 interface that comes with many technological advancements. By bidding farewell to VST 2, we hope to offer everyone a clear direction,” comments Yvan Grabit, technology lead at Steinberg.

As I have read, Chris of Airwindows got the permission from Steinberg to release only VST2.
Maybe other developers are allowed to release VST2 as well? What if Steinberg just discontinued to develop/fix/improve VST2 development kit and support only VST3 kit? It doesnt mean all developers will not release VST2. It is not the story as with dx. Dx was/is unreally bad with what we have now. But VST2 is still Go-to. VST3 is just newer and better, but it also has some problems, and there are no so much (r)evolutionary in features.
It is like wav VS flac. They are the same, but flac is less sized, but wav has more export quality options. And flac is worse for editing in some editors because of some time offsets etc, a la Nero wav editor. VST3 has decimation/bitcrush in Slate plugin, noticeably on reverb tails and quiet levels.

The issue is that Steinberg officially has decided to end production & support of VST2 products.
Not that developers can continue to develop VST2 products.

At some point. Developers will most likely discontinue VST2 in future releases. Once all relevant VST2 features are enabled in VST3, there will no need to continue develop 2 VST streams.

Think of x86 & x64. You will see more & more that developers, will be releasing 64 bit only for DAWs & plugins.

VST3 is the near future. Might as well start moving in that direction rather than be left behind.
