I bought 5 with 2 major update, so it's finally time to pay again. I will happily do it, they easily deserve my money.
Now I'm waiting for The Reaper Blog's video to see which are the important changes.:winker:

Retroactive MIDI Recording: Import played MIDI after the fact, even if track recording was not set up or armed.

    is nice

Maybe this is why reaper is still more compatible with plugins, more stable, has better performance, uses less cpu and ram, crashes less, and uses basic, standard, generic Win1946 stuff, than all that modern DAWs, which have more problems, more crashes and 3rd party VST changelogs a-la "fixed in ableton, FL, wavelab, bitwig"?

It still supports windows xp (or even earlier)
It still supports old forgotten DX and VST2, not only that VST3 which is problematic and less stable in most cases. YES, all DAWs still support VST2.... But.... Reaper will be supporting old VST2 and windows xp vista 7, while other DAWs will discontinue VST2 like Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10(soon! After windows 12 release).

Reaper is 64 bit float math since....version 0.0 or so... Since earlier 2000s
Cubase, pro tools as mothers of DAWs since...recently

Reaper has oversampling for plugins, full fx chains

Reaper has one of the best SRC (its ownsm and Voxengo's algo) ..... Other DAWs?

Reaper has Voxengo's TPDF dithering algo

    Pan laws
Endless vst inserts per channel (till your cpu booom)
    And mooooooore

    Hype, money or quality?

The only things I miss from FL are step sequencer and patterns (which were discontinued since FL12, and hidden in FL11)
Some ableton good built-in plugins (but no, I already have several thousands of 3rd party vst).
Few other stuff from DAWs, but they are not main or problem solving, trouble shooting too much.

I dropped FL11, cubase5, samplitude since I tried to mix other person's project in reaper 3.x back in 2010 or 2011....since that I dropped cubase and samplitude in hours, couple of days, and quickly moved from FL (weeks or several months)...

Reaper is based on simplicity to get all that modern shit to work and to be better than "dropped support, sorry" DAWs...

In fact, I liked the v6 theme the most. v7 looks like an accident to me. But as they say - tastes differ. Fortunately, the v6 theme is still included.

WhiteTie should be fired or do something else in Reaper team, those official themes trying to mix material type design and fake 3D elements from the 90s are a fiasco
