OK I think I'm starting to understand a little more. You do need to use legato, but you have to be careful or you will mess up the songs timing. That's why Mighty Fortress Legato is accapella as I messed up the timing with the instruments. Also make sure you turn off Quantize and Snap if your DAW has them or what ever the equivalent is, this was messing up my final export horribly and I couldn't figure out why.
