Hey guys, wondering if anyone knows of a plug in that can do this? Like for instance if I am playing a guitar lead, a plug that in real time could transcribe the audio tones to midi, which could then drive a synth or whatever? I know Melodyne does this, but not in real time I don't think... perhaps I'm wrong. But any suggestions would be appreciated. This came to me while using a gate fed from the audio from my guitar to trigger a midi note which played a pad in Alchemy, kind of a cool effect because it gives you the steady drone or pedal tone or whatever, which you can then improv over.

    Check this release....,

    Knzaudio.Midifier.VST.v1.101.Incl.Keygen-AiR

    from AIR NFO

Control your MIDI devices with audio!

MIDIFIER is the first real-time audio-to-MIDI plugin. It converts
monophonic audio tracks to MIDI. Faithfully extracts the pitch and envelope
of the audio data and generates MIDI notes on-the-fly.

Midifier is an audio plugin that converts monophonic audio tracks to MIDI
data in real-time. Using Midifier, you can control your MIDI devices
vocally or with another instrument. Midifier can also act as a substitute
    for MIDI keyboard.

    How it works:

Put some audio material on one track in your sequencer, set up Midifier and
a MIDI track for output, and press the play the button of your sequencer.
    It's that simple.

Midifier transforms the audio to MIDI notes on-the-fly. Your melody will be
played back with the instrument you set up for the MIDI output track. Or
you can set up Midifier to save the result of the conversion to a MIDI
    file.

Midifer has two main application areas:

Take an existing audio material, for example a vocal track, and make a
synth melody out of it. See Example 1 at the sound samples.

Use Midifier in place of your MIDI keyboard to enter music into the
computer, allowing you to record an expressive solo with your guitar, sax
or vocal and convert it to MIDI. See Example 2.

    Key Features:

    Easy-to-use

Made for musicians not for scientists. Just plug in and play.

    Accurate

Exact pitch with exact timing. Precise bass attacks and high-pitched fast
    vibratos.

    Real-time

    MIDI notes generated on-the-fly.

    Sequencer-integrated

No need to import/export data from/to an external program.

    Insensitive to input instruments

Works with a wide range of instruments, including vocal.

    Software-only

You don't need any special hardware for Midifer to work. Connect your
electric instruments to your mixer or record your acoustic instruments with

What you are looking to do has inherent drawbacks if you are trying to get it to work in realtime.
I have a guitar fitted with a roland midi pickup and a roland gr-30 for midi out to the computer and about 10 years experience with playing it.
Some of the things you need to know are...

    - forget playing anything below the fifth fret on the bottom two strings in anything faster than 8th notes, it just wont track that fast due to the physics of the wavelength.
it needs to hear at least half a waveform before it can reliably decide which pitch you are playing, and down low, that half of a waveform in time is just too long.

    - you have to play extremely cleanly for a nice flow with no tracking errors, much more cleanly than you probably think.

    - you can cheat the tracking a bit by using a capo at a point around the 8th fret or higher so it picks up each note relatively fast, but you will need to transpose its output.
the second part to this is you need to be wearing headphones or have the volume loud enough to cover the string pluck sound so the 2 different pitches you hear otherwise don't completely confuse you

    - it is going to generate ALOT of controller data

That being said, once you get used to it , it is a fairly good way to get stuff into the computer, be prepared to do a fair bit of editing to clean it up nice though.

Cool! You can also try Reaper's retune which does this as well (Sends out MIDI on detected notes).

    Hi,
If you don't want to equip your guitar with sensors, there are two possibilities:
hardware - Sonuus G2M, but there is a small delay, so it is not so realtime
software - VST "Pitch a bitch" from bitscrew.com - working great, with some more nice features, but it is still monophonic also.
I'm using the second one in my live-sets or to record midi track with guitar or voice.

others VSTs works with mistakes or has other problems, I was dealing with this topic for more than one year, but finally I've got it =)
