    Hello Guys
I was testing in Kontakt the Retro Machines library. I think it is based on samples, isn't it? I was looking for a synth bass in my vst, and I liked the sound of this library better, it seemed more real, I liked it in particularly, a bass from the k700 ( Korg) library.

So, I was wondering if there are more libraries like this, based on synth samples. Which ones do you know besides this kontakt one?

It does not need to be a library in kontakt, it can be from UVI, or another one.

    Thanks!

all the UVI stuff is great. A Vintage Vault release would be most convenient for you, but I think it was not released that way. Only in it's separate parts or something like that.

Pretty much all Kontakt libraries are sample libraries, even those with ultra fancy hardware synth-like GUIs, it's all window dressing (for the 2nd worst sampler on the market :bleh:)

My jabs at kontakt aside, If you want libraries based on hardware synthesizers your best bet is to just get plugins based on those synthesizers. At the very least you're gonna save on storage space.
There's a thread dedicated to that, if you don't want to skim through all 13 pages just ask about what you're interested there

UVI Synth Anthology 3 pretty real as is it a sample based (from hardware) and has a "sub" from hundreds of hardware synths you can blend with. Quite handy for bass sound.

so everything I find from UVI is based on samples? I have synth anthology 3 which I downloaded from the sister site. So this one is based on samples? I am seeing now that you have ARP 2600 that I like a lot (The Hardware one) So it would be samples of the hardaware?
Yes, you say? I don't know why I find in the samples a more LO-FI sound that I don't find in the vst that emulate the Synth.

I was just asking you that question in another comment. Wow I didn't know it was based on samples. I thought it was an emulation that made the plugin. Thanks bro!

Edit: Exactly! that's what I don't find in the vst's, that deep and heavy sound but with a lot of harmonics, I don't know how to describe it. But that sound that makes it feel real.

A lot of the UVI expansions are sample based, but they are Flac iirc. So it is a close to lossless compression. Smaller than comparable Kontakt content, but that not much. It sounds great and is light as it gets for such a big software synth package. Nexus might be a better comparison in storage use.

FLAC is lossless, it's identical to WAV. Same thing with NCW (Kontakt's compressed file format), except that FLAC is better optimized for size. But for audio quality it makes no difference.

Thank you very much! I just wanted to search for libraries in kontakt but I didn't know how to search, i.e. the names. They sound great.
To me they sound good, I like them better than the vst's that emulate hardware. I don't know if it's psychological, but to my ear it's closer to the hardware sound. The thing that lacks more realism is when the notes are too low, they lose that natural brightness, and when the notes are too watered down, they lose a little bit of that bass weight. I don't know how to explain it. But it sounds great, I really like these sounds as well as kontatk's emulation.

Samples sound more lofi since they're recorded straight from the original outputs, that's about it. It's more noticeable with analog and early digital synths.
