    Hello,

For example Billie Jean at 03:30:

I took a Flute sound and played a high tone (e.g. F#5) and pitched it down by 1 and even 2 octaves.
    However, it sounded strange.

Then I tried EQing it completely down - not really better.

From what I hear it starts high and goes down, but apparently I can't reproduce due to wrong technice.
Could you help me, maybe graphical (how you would automate the pitch/EQ curve within a DAW.)

P.S: I don't want the original sample, I want to have it melodical.

Any help will be much apreciated!

Double-track a falsetto "hoooo" (yes, sing it) and Melodyne the two or three takes (pitch up/down and change formant if needed). Don't make the doubles perfect in pitch to each other, as it will remove the "chorusness".

It's just a single note/pitch. No pitch envelope.

Maybe use a Wah, (they can be graduated..)
and play the note with a bend-up approximation, and bend-down release..

The tuning varation is subtle but if done right and with the Wah, it could work,
this will also make it be a rounder note with less attack..

Ofc it would be easier on a guitar w/trem, or violin/viola than a flute..

I think here you need a saw with noise, with an LP filter and complex envelopes, then chorus You can do that in the Vital

It would probably be easiest to produce the sound yourself vocally. For best results I would recommend extensive facial surgery, particularly your nose, it needs to be the same shape as Michael's.

Or you could just find a comedian doing a Jackson impersonation and chop the sample out...

I'm personally more intrigued with his James Brown-ish "aaaaauch" vocal effect, and that can be easily achieved most realistically by using a hammer on your right or left toe [depending on your political orientation] and hitting it hard whilst recording. Using a plastic or rubber one can get you there, no problem. Nothing can replace a real performance. Just be careful to get the timing right.
