My disability isn't stopping me from trying! Playing a keyboard or clicking around on a computer doesn't hurt too bad, although I've actually been having increasing concerns about my joints lately, especially my wrists.. I had one failed suicide attempt before that time, but I was really elaborately planning the next one before YIC came in to help me.
I won't say "MY gender and situation isn't a joking matter! :snuffy:" Because honestly it may as well be . I'll post a pic of me holding my new student ID with a post-it note saying "hey Audio sexuals" Over my real name soon enough.

I don't say much in these forums, but I had to put my two cents in here. I'm almost 40, I've always been chronically broke, and it took 15 years of constantly playing guitar before I had any sort of self-defeating attitude, or questions of "should I do this?" If you're "young" and already asking these questions publicly to gain affirmation from strangers, perhaps music is not your passion. Other peoples opinions or approval will always let you down, it's what you find within yourself that should be driving your love of music. Sure, I play shows and get a thrill when folks like what I'm doing, but I'd do it regardless if they hated it.

Maybe not the digital side of the music world so far.. You have a point. I've been doing traditional music since I was 9, I've always wanted to compose but can't say I like the lack of success. I want to keep trying anyways though, I'm just having a steep learning curve. I really shouldn't have posted this rant on a public forum really, would've been better scribbled on some paper that would later be thrown out.

I've just gotten into computer recording in the last 3 years, and sure the curve is steep, but definitely worth it. Keep at it and before you know, you're going to be way better at it than you expected.

People seem to miss that I'm not doing it for money or a career... Nah this is purely a hobby. Goal in life is to be a Special Ed teacher or a chef career wise...

You could always study to be a music teacher. Obviously you would have to go to music college.

find comfort in the fact that money will not get you started

the only thing money would do for you as a beginner is lure you to think you are a producer/musician and maybe make you "look" like one until realizing if you have what it takes. luckily today you just need any computer.

the only things that will determine if you can live on music is to make songs, build up a history, learn while doing.

if you manage to focus and not get distracted in stupidity like vst-hoarding etc and manage to start and finalize your projects no-matter how "small" "simple" you see them now, if you manage to find the path of finishing your songs/beats and to keep going over to the next one is the ONLY thing required to make you a producer/musician at the end of the day.

another recommendation is to co-work and not become an isolated over jealous person, co-work with people that have what you lack character-wise or so. find the type of person that will have that thing you miss and who will make you finish stuff and get the material out to the public in whatever way, and then continue/build up on that path. be focused, if you get irritated remember if the person(s) you are working with are useful to your common main goal, remember you dont have to love them as along as they push you forward.

ps: i only read your first post

holy cow poop you people typed way to much

    first off , who cares
second off , stop expecting money , especially through services like i tunes , thts just sad

third off music is made for you now a days and you only no one cares , most likes and follows are fake , the internet is not real electrical music is not real , money is not real , please go kill yourself and never type again thanks ,

lastly i have been making music in every way since i was like 6 years old , i make it , its a horrible addiction i wish i could stop , but i cant , you dont have that drive , you will never be more than a consumer of products , you most likely will use tune boosters and bot nets to gain any attention and maybe get put out by a low level edm djs crappy label run by his 3 year old son , to get a few thousand SC plays and we will forget about you without ever even knowing who you are , dont rant , keep your stupid thoughts to yourself , when i was djing on wax in the 90s i didn't have anyone to complain too , my parents helped me but they really didn't care , so what , no one really cares ,most industry music is lowkey mind control , and nothing really matters except you , so f you and die slo thanks ....

Why don't you try Digital Media, Search Engine Optimization Specialist, Advertising, that kind of stuff, and do music as a sideline?

There was a guy who used to post on here named Jeff DeSantis or something like that who was juggling dual career/hobby paths. Maybe you can look him up online and ask for some advice. He was a nice fella, a bit of a daydreamer, but I'm sure he could point you in the right direction

I dont think beeing young is any diffrent from old or OLDER. If you feel you are unique and have something to tell the world i believe you should start by finding out what you really want to tell. Is you skill level in your DAW stopping you? Thing is, you need to have a skill of some kind to create something. It doesnt matter what it is. Maybe music isnt the right thing for it. And again if its the skill level in coming up with a result in your DAW, find some other way to record your ideas. There are old ways to do it you know.

I think that the most importent thing is that you do what connects with you. Do you play guitar, piano or something else? Shooting up your DAW only will not make you reach your goal. Just sit and stare at it tell me you dont know what to do, or? You should start playing, jamming and bring out whats inside you. Dont dont sit there. Inspiration comes from hearing things and playing thing yourself is clearly a good way to start. Beeing unique as you say is harder than what most people do today. With this EDM etc its even harder. Same thing over and over again. Even if you manage to do it your way im pretty sure it will not be unique.

I get the impression you have a creative side in you, as some say you draw/paint well. You have a desire to create and tell people something. So try find some strenght and jump into it. Even if you get bored after 10 min save whatever you manage to do then get on it an hour later. Try write some notes on what and how you were thinking so you can find and understand what you did at the time you started that project. But most importent is to play, sing or whatever it is you create. As said, going around with a glass of wine waiting for inspiration will never be a good way. better to zip the wine while you create in that case you must have wine ;).

If you believe in you, then so do i and many others. Problems with parents etc (i am one myself) is that they have problems to understand things that they aint familiar with. If possible, teach them. If they dont care then atleast you reached out to them and can hold our head high no matter what happens. If you like this "hobby" as you call it then stick with it and dont take it so hard. Have fun with it. Enjoy it. If you feel preasure opening up your DAW there will not be any MENTOR what so ever that can turn that around. Teaching you your DAW is another story. Follow your guts and read and learn as much as you can. After a while you will find it more easy to create and you will even find "your sound".

If you then later will make money out of it thats another story. But im sure you will be very happy the day you created something that ends up just close to what you wanted. So be Proud of who you are and find your way.

    Be Safe and take care..
