The problem is even bigger with the new M3 SoCs and seems to be related to the apps (in this case plugins) unable to target only the performance cores. They hit the efficiency cores and they bottleneck them. I was planning to buy an M mac but learning this information, I'm more tempted to get a mobile workstation PC (a brick with a desktop class CPU), if the problem does not appear to be solvable

See Kontakt there, there's that big thread on GS and culprit was Kontakt. Spectrasonics stuff doesn't run that good either from what I gathered, but it's nothing new, they always had problems even on Windows. On other hand based on the stuff I use, U-He is performing great, Bitwig too, it spreads load on all cores equally, rest of my plugins are running good too, Valhalla, Voxengo and etc.

Yeah, saw Blue Cat audio article, it's going to be interesting, luckily, I'm not affected with my setup, but that doesn't change the fact majority are.

Sincerely, if you aren't going to use laptop, better avoid this new architecture, especially if you are going to use machine locked in one place/like desktop solution. IMO proper desktop is the king, better cooling, great performance for the buck, upgradability, backwards compatibility and etc. Only reason I got into it is because I wanted laptop and I'm using handful of tools that are working as expected on this architecture, guess years of weeding developers out and using all three platforms kinda eased up all this on me, have this same setup on Windows and Linux too.

Seems people that have least issues on Apple Silicon are the ones that got into it like they are getting into Linux, just stuff that works, took the chance to make a change in their setup, fresh install and all that. It's specific mindset, but it works for some, for others that is a nightmare, losing older projects and plugins, especially folks who are heavy into warez, this just isn't architecture for that at all.

I wanted to buy a Macbook M3 for mobile recording and I saw this video. I think I'll buy an M1.

Still didn't, I think it has something to do with some plugins run intel and is converted.

Yes I have an Apollo Twin X... Does that have something to do with that?

    Unfortunately, I can confirm that.
A lot of things go wrong with the M3MAx and this Audiowarez Stuff. The efficiency cores are in first place in the activity display, followed by the performance cores.
Are they also addressed in the same way by Omnisphere, for example?
No wonder why it crashes here and there.

Is anything that crashes an Apple product, or are these problems isolated to 3rd party software?
