Hi guys, Most sound cards have poor converters (DAC AN/NA),personally I have a "BabyFace Pro" known to have good N/A converters but a few month ago I wanted to upgrade my system and I acquired a "PURE 2" (Antelope) , the difference was significant in terms of sound quality, that's when I realized that DAC in sound cards are not as good as it compared to audiophile DAC,but... ...Few days ago I compared my "PURE 2" with a DAC "R2R 7" (AUDIO-GD) and... wôw what a difference ! I was really impressed by this R2R DAC (built in 4 groups DA-7 R-2R LADDER) In comparison my Antelope "Poor 2" sound pretty bad . I know that audiophile DACs tend to embellish the sound but the difference between the two is huge, really. Some of you could advise me for a DAC with a very good sound quality or share your experience about DAC ? Any advice would be welcome, Thank you in advance for your return
Read this and learn why some DAC seems to sound better https://www.whathifi.com/forum/hi-fi/how-does-dac-affect-sound-quality Flatness Dynamic Distortion...this can be tested. BUT humain brain will be tricked by distortion, loudness curve, output level... into thinking it sounds BETTER. Whereas it just sound attractive. And there is headphone impedance in the game, too. So, if you want to be in the truth about whitch DAC delivers, find comparisons and lab tests. Avoid ANY subjective point. But if you want to be in listening pleasure, tell other ppl what you like
