if R2R are being paid by devs not to crack there products then i find that hard to belive, its true that spl not been cracked since 2015 and melda since version 11 maybe the protection got updated, and if 1 dev would pay a crack group not to crack there soft waves would be one of them considering the cost of the mercury bundle, so studio one 4.1.3 has not been seen or live 10.0.6 and the latest waves update that only adds CLA mix bucket thingy,who knows the minds of crack groups and what they release or not release, im sure they have day jobs and crack it for fun, we will never know the answer, but if R2R are on the way out another team allways surface out of the ashes, as it did in the past, if you can make music with what you already have then i see no problem, most are minor updates anyway, and if you really need the latest update then its time to dig in your pocket and pay for it, i did this as the vst i use all the time i needed,the rest is junk if you dont use it and just collect it because you can,i made that mistake on my old pc, i dl everything and my vst folder list was bigger than a book lol, so now i just keep it to essential stuff, i bought fl studio, ableton, sylenth, vps avenger, viper, diva and omni, if you cant make music with those then its time to give up,and i do not make money with my music, see what happens in the next weeks or so,

Imagine you're a dev who sells samples, Kontakt libs and plugins (Win & Mac versions), then you must pay R2R, VR, Hexwars, SYNTHiC4TE, Fantastic, etc... plus all the people who release via P2P and all other who unlock your plugins using patching methods from R2R or use old Keygens from AiR.
This blackmail would not let you enough to pay you a beer...
Even in the case of an "exclusive" crack of Steinberg Key (as AiR did in the past), Steinberg would NEVER pay.
Why?
Because there is no guarantee that the same group - but under another name - will not ask for more and more money afterwards.
Nobody will take the risk to fall into a blackmail which will never stop.
Same goes for terrorism: never give in.

As I don't know the people on this site nor their affiliations (or lack thereof) with the P2P and Scene groups, I will assume most or all here is speculation. I became suspicious of the groups years ago, so I would not be surprised if they were extracting "protection money". It's an age old scheme with organized crime. Ever wonder why there's so much organized crime, gangs and terrorist groups and how they remain so successful over such a long time. I did, and then I realized that many groups are being funded by outside sources, and in some cases cooperating with certain authorities. It's a matter of "follow the money".

As far as R2R, and the like, it doesn't bother me. I'm grateful to have the wares to play around with. Of course, easy for me to say so as I'm not a dev, right. The "legal" white collar criminals are far more troublesome IMO. I'm not making a penny from this (barely a hobby) and am mostly concerned with not getting malware on my system (and deciphering the occasional false positives). Full disclosure: these are only my opinions (not necessarily conclusions either) based on my evolving research and subject to future change.
