The "sister site" is not the lone debarkation point for the scene. There are a few avenues available.

It's more a matter of reputation and repetition. There are many avenues that have proven themselves over time as purely reliable. The sister site as well is simply a debarkation point just as any of the rest of them. Who one chooses to place their "trust" in comes from track record and not necessarily "trust" per se...

When the witches say "you're an asshole if you make money with their releases" - that should go double for these "download services" that do everything in their power to get you to pay for warez. These "services" telling those with VPN's they "need to disable them or buy premium access to download this file" ??? get the fuck outta here...

Mainstream torrent's are a hit and miss proposition. That doesn't mean getting a release thru torrent is going to be malwared...It all depends on what trackers you use. There are plenty of other options than the sister site to get quality releases. These other options do NOT charge $$ for releases as is intended by the scene itself. As far as R2R being the only "legit good guys"... There isn't a reputable release group around (R2R is only one of them among many) that isn't "legit". If there were, they would be blackballed almost immediately.

Release groups are not the source of nefarious malware laden bullshit. Some of the garbage comes from script kiddies, but a great deal of it originates from those who say they are "protecting" you from the very stuff they are infecting with their filth and then setting out in the wild. The intent being if they aren't able to catch ppl and fine them or jail them for getting warez they will try and fuck up their shit so they can't. Here's what we say to the dickless who participates in that kind of activity -
