Wiro Mahieu (born 1964 in Nijmegen; died January 5, 2026) was a Dutch jazz musician (double bass, electric bass, composition). Initially a fan of Queen, Mahieu played bass guitar from the age of thirteen, and primarily double bass from the age of seventeen. He received instruction at the Huis voor de Kunsten De Lindenberg; from 1990, he studied at the ArtEZ Conservatorium in Arnhem, where Eddie Gomez, Miroslav Vitouš, and Ray Brown also taught him. As a bassist, he was strongly influenced by Eddie Gomez and Scott LaFaro. Between 1989 and 1992, Mahieu was a member of Luluk Purwanto and René van Helsdingen's group, with whom he toured Europe and made his first recordings. Between 1992 and In 1997, he played in Loek Dikker's Waterland Sextet; he was also a member of the group Vandoorn from 1993 to 1998, with whom he recorded the album *The Question Is Me* with Kenny Wheeler. From 1996, he played with Rob van den Broeck; he worked in Eric Vloeimans' trio (1997–2000) and in Jeroen Pek's group (1997–2006). He also founded his own trio, the Low Motion Trio, with which he performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival and toured with Charlie Mariano. He has also collaborated with Willem Hellbreker (2000–2007), Masha Bijlsma (2002–2004), and Amina Figarova (2001–2007). Mahieu has also played with Martin Fondse, Nils Wogram, Michiel Borstlap, Guus Tangelder, and Colette Wickenhagen.
