R.I.P. - Uli Mentzel (Wortmord) died in July 2025 Wortmord's Facebook page currently reports that their former frontman (from 2008 to 2013), Ulrich 'Uli' Mentzel, died in July 2025. He was 58 years old (born on December 15, 1966). "Ulli Mentzel has passed away. As the singer of Wortmord, he always gave his all and was a really good guy, but unfortunately, alcohol took too much of a hold on him. Take care, Ulli." Well, wherever he is now, he'll probably run into Chris 'Witchhunter' of Sodom, who died of liver failure in 2008 for similar reasons. Wortmord, the band of Peppi Dominik (also known as 'Grave Violater' in Sodom), released a CD (their only) titled Wortgeburt in 2010. This featured several well-known musicians from the Ruhr region's thrash metal scene as guests. Wortmord has occasionally performed in this environment. R.I.P.
