    Thomas Causey (December 5, 1949 – January 11, 2026) was an American sound engineer.


    Causey began his career in the early 1970s with his debut film, the low-budget *The Night of the Strangler*. In 1978, he began a long-standing collaboration with John Carpenter. Starting with *Halloween*, he directed nine of Carpenter's films until 1996, including *Escape from New York*, *Big Trouble in Little China*, and *Escape from L.A.*. He also worked on the first two sequels to *Halloween*, *Halloween II* and *Halloween III*.

    In 1988, he worked on the film comedy *The Naked Gun* by the filmmaking trio Zucker/Abrahams/Zucker, as well as on the parodies *Hot Shots!*, later directed solely by Jim Abrahams. – The Mother of All Movies and Hot Shots! Part Deux. Between 1994 and 2002, he appeared in all four Star Trek films based on the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation.

    He also had a long-standing collaboration with actor Adam Sandler; between 2003 and 2008, Causey worked on nine of Sandler's productions, including Anger Management, Spanglish, and I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. In 1991, Causey was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Sound and a BAFTA Film Award for Best Sound for Dick Tracy.

    In addition to nearly 70 feature films, Causey also worked in television. He appeared in 17 episodes of the soap opera Dallas and a pilot episode of Falcon Crest that was never aired. He was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award in 1982 for his work on the television film Fire on the Mountain. His last film appearance was in 2008.

    Causey died at the age of 76. He was married for the third time and left behind a son.
