R.I.P. Rob Reiner - December 14, 2025 - Film Director, Producer, and Actor

Robert "Rob" Reiner (born March 6, 1947, in the Bronx, New York City; died before or on December 14, 2025, in Brentwood, Los Angeles) was an American film director, producer, and actor. He became known as an actor in the 1970s through the television series *All in the Family*. From the mid-1980s onward, he directed successful films such as *This Is Spinal Tap*, *Stand by Me*, *The Princess Bride*, *When Harry Met Sally*, *Misery*, and *A Few Good Men*.

American film director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer, were found dead in their home in Los Angeles. This was reported by US broadcasters CNN and NBC. "It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner.

We are heartbroken by this sudden loss and ask for privacy during this unimaginably difficult time," the Reiner family said in a statement, according to CNN. Investigators speak of "suspected murder."

NBC had previously reported that a police robbery and homicide unit had taken over the investigation. The fire department stated that it was alerted Sunday afternoon (local time) for a medical emergency and found a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman dead inside the house. Investigators from the Robbery Homicide Division are investigating a "suspected murder" at Reiner's home, said Detective Mike Bland.

The Los Angeles Police Department had initially only announced that it was investigating two deaths at a house in Brentwood, which, according to land records, belongs to director Rob Reiner.

There is NOTHING to like about this tragedy.

Rob Reiner was such an artist and visionary on so so many levels and this one really hurts.

I have enjoyed his entire career from both sides of the camera or ideas and the import of his roles in culture and his insight.

Rest in peace Mr. Reiner.

You brought a lot of joy and thought and growth and understanding to the world.

RIP. I think Spinal Tap will retire now out of respect.

 

Sad and scary news at the same time...
It's a small consolation, but Rob's work will live on forever.

A giant of film, just for This Is Spinal Tap which was a formative experience for me.

A terrible event, but he will be remembered for his work. RIP.

 

I remember him playing Tom Hanks friend in Sleepless in Seattle... Great comedian too.

 

I just looked at his filmography. I didn't realize how many great films he made. So sad. RIP.

 

I'd say this guy's performances, as well as all the cast in All In the Family, truly helped shape me into to the person I am. I'm nothing great but great ideals were illustrated by that entire production. I was very young in the 70s. Norman Lear and all these great actors/actresses really put a wonderful thing in the world. It's sad that in the 80s, all that humanity was lost in television and movies. I feel fortunate to grow up, being able to watch people like Rob Reiner. He is a friend of a friend that was heartbroken, when she reached me last night. Rest in Power Mr. Reiner. Thank you.
