Rene Ubachs, synthesizer developer and founder of Rebach has passed away - 4 November, 2025

Rene Ubachs, the Dutch Synthesizer developer and founder of the Netherlands-based Eurorack brand Rebach, has passed away.

Just before Christmas, we received a lot of exciting news about synthesizers and music tech. But now, there is also some sad news. Rene Ubachs, an independent Dutch Synthesizer developer and founder of the Eurorack brand ReBach, has passed away.

ReBach was founded in 2017 by Rene Ubachs and focused on the production of electronic equipment and services for the musical market, especially Eurorack modules. That’s how I came across the developer.

Among other things, he released the CATCH and Wolfram modules series. With these, he offered high-quality yet affordable modules.

Besides developing Eurorack modules, his second focus was on repairing vintage synthesizers and drum machines.

My colleagues from the German online magazine Bonedo interviewed ReBach, who talks about his Eurorack activities and experiences with vintage synth repairs.

I learned of his death from Paul Tas from Error Instruments, who was a long-time friend of Rene. He wrote on social media:

Really sad news . To tell the people that Rene has passed away way too young thank you for your synthesiser in your love. It was nice to travel with you. Thank you for all your support. And so many more projects. Thank you.

All the best for your family. . See you on the other side, my friend. Grtz paul tas Team error. @rebach.eu

This is unfortunate news just before Christmas. Thank you for all your contributions and for being part of the synth community. RIP Rene!
