Peter Gritz (August 18, 1958 in Salgótarján; August 20, 2025 was a Hungarian jazz musician (drums, percussion) who worked in France.

After graduating from high school, Gritz studied at the Budapest Jazz Conservatory. He soon began working as a jazz musician with pianist Béla Szakcsi Lakatos and guitarist Gyula Babos in the band Saturnus (the album of the same name was released on Pepita).

To avoid military service, he emigrated to France in 1980.
After an interlude with Iván Lantos of the folk group Kolinda and with harpist Kristen Noguès, he joined Antoine Hervé's trio (Trio, 1984) and the bands of Barney Wilen, with whom he recorded three albums, and Éric Barret, and in the second half of the 1980s also with Yochk'o Seffer's Chromophonie.

He was also active in Francis Lockwood's trio (Jimi's Colors). He continued to play with Lee Konitz, Mario Stantchev, Marc Ducret, and Paolo Fresu, and toured internationally. In Brittany, he settled in Brest (Finistère), where he collaborated with Jacques Pellen (Ephemera, 2003).

In 1994, Gritz recorded the album Thank You to Be under his own name. In the field of jazz, he participated in 31 recordings between 1979 and 2001. In 1989, he was honored as Musician of the Year by Radio France.
