    R.I.P. - Patrick Walden (ex-Babyshambles) passed away on June 20, 2025

As the RockTimes editorial team has just learned, guitarist Patrick Walden passed away on June 20, 2025, at the age of 46. Walden received his first guitar as a gift at the age of 13, which clearly changed his life. Over the years, he was a member of several bands, the most famous of which is probably Babyshambles, in which he played with Pete Doherty (ex-The Libertines), among others.

However, he had to leave the band in 2005 due to his drug problems. After his departure, he continued to make guest appearances with the band, but his ongoing problems prevented Walden from joining the band on a permanent basis.

In a public statement, Babyshambles read: "It is with deep regret and sadness that we share the news of Patrick Walden's passing. We feel very fortunate to have known, loved, and worked with him and ask for respect and privacy during this difficult time!" Pete Doherty also shared the news on his personal account. The cause of death is unknown.

    Rest in peace, Patrick!

I imagine anyone connected with Pete Doherty would have had a drug/alcohol problem.
I thought Babyshambles were totally overrated myself. Only in the limelight through Doherty's notoriety.

Reminds me of Jimi Hendrix (* November 27, 1942 † September 18, 1970 his death: London, Samarkand Hotel, where Jimi Hendrix spent the last night before his death in one of the ground-floor apartments.

In the years before his death in 1970, Hendrix's drug use had increased dramatically. As a result, his performance at his last concerts, in particular, suffered greatly. "He lost his grip on reality, delivered some disastrous concerts under the influence of drugs, and subsequently succumbed to increasing depression." After his performance at the Love and Peace Festival on the Baltic Sea island of Fehmarn, he returned to London "exhausted and mentally shattered."
