R.I.P. - Michael Madsen (actor) has died at the age of 67

Hollywood has lost another outstanding character actor: Michael Madsen has died. The actor, known from cult films such as "Kill Bill" and "Reservoir Dogs," was found dead in his Malibu home on Tuesday morning. According to his manager, Ron Smith, he apparently died of cardiac arrest. Madsen was 67 years old.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, paramedics pronounced him dead at 8:25 a.m. His spokeswoman, Liz Rodriguez, confirmed the death to dpa. In a joint statement, his team praised Madsen as "one of Hollywood's most iconic actors" who will be deeply missed.

Madsen has appeared in over 300 productions since the 1980s. These include classics such as "Thelma & Louise," "Donnie Brasco," "Species," "Free Willy," and "Sin City." He also had a supporting role in the James Bond adventure "Die Another Day."

His image as a dangerous outsider stuck with him not only on screen. In 2018, he said in an interview: "I think I was more believable than I should have been. People are genuinely afraid of me." Madsen also made headlines off-screen. In 2019, he was convicted of drunk driving, and in 2024, he was temporarily taken into police custody after an argument with his wife. However, the matter was settled as a "difference of opinion."

 

RIP Michael. Loved your movies.

 

I heard it on Facebook just the other day. He played in so many great films and became one of my favourite actors. I feel like he could have given us a few more and left us too early. R.I.P, Michael.

His performance in Reservoir Dogs (1992), in the scene with ‘Stuck In The Middle With You’ song, is simply minimalist, brilliant (and absolutely disturbing, since Tarantino literally traps us in a room with a psychopath and makes the experience even more voyeuristic by using the associative power of that song and visual context... spectacularization of an act of violence = purely brilliant).
