Gordon Lightfoot - If You Could Read My Mind

As we have learned only now, Canadian singer/songwriter Gordon Lightfoot has already died of natural causes on Monday, May 1, 2023 at the age of 84. The American released in his career twenty studio albums, three live albums and 46 singles, of which "If You Could Read My Mind" (1970), "Sundown" (1974), "Carefree Highway" (1974), "Rainy Day People" (1975) and "The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald" (1976) became his biggest hits.

In addition to his success with his own songs and albums, however, he was also a highly respected songwriter. Bob Dylan, Paul Weller, Elvis Presley, Eric Clapton, Barbra Streisand and Neil Young, among others, recorded versions of his songs. Lightfoot had to fight from the early seventies again and again with health problems and survived in the year 2002 only scarcely due to an emergency operation. Now he has left this earth, but what will always remain is his music.
Rest in peace, Gordon, we will not forget you.
