    Florian Schneider, a founding member of Kraftwerk, has died from cancer. Schneider was 73 years old.​

    Love/heart reaction, because that's the closest react I can think of. Kraftwerk were one of the reasons I got into electronic music nerdery. My neighbor played me his Man-Machine vinyl on his tube amp and it just floored me. I was hooked. I think it was in 1988 or so. Great memories!

    Kraftwerk was a trailblazer in German electronic music.
    Their first 3 "conehead" acid albums (which they've tried to bury) are Conny Plank classics.
    After that, Autobahn broke them out worldwide on the radio. I was 19.
    Still have CD's of Autobahn and Computer world as well as MP3's of their first 3 albums and their others.
    This is a devastating loss.

    I've now startet a petition
    "On the death of one of the greatest musical geniuses of German post-war history, the city of Düsseldorf should give one of the highways in the region the additional name "Florian Schneider Autobahn".
    Florian Schneider was a son of Düsseldorf and together with Ralf Hütter he made the name Düsseldorf known in the whole world with his band Kraftwerk. Now after his death it is time for the city to thank him for this. What could be more fitting than to give his name to one of the Highways around Düsseldorf? (as a name suffix)
