    The global psytrance community is mourning the loss of one of its most beloved figures. DJ Chicago — born David Christman in 1946 and affectionately known as Shiki — died on the morning of 30 May 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand. He was 80 years old. The news was confirmed by his son in an emotional social media post that quickly spread across the global rave community.

    DJ Chicago — David Potter Christman, also known as Shiki — was far more than just a DJ or a member of 1200 Micrograms. He was a true pioneer and godfather of the psytrance culture, a living bridge between the original Goa hippie spirit of the 1980s and the global psychedelic movement that followed.
