Boncana Maïga (* 1949 in Gao; † February 28, 2026 in Bamako) was a singer, flautist and arranger from Mali.

In the early 1960s, he was bandleader and saxophonist of the Le Negro Band De Gao. In 1963, he moved to Havana, Cuba, learned to play the flute, and studied world music. During this time, he played Cuban music in the band Las Maravillas De Mali.

In 1974, he returned to Mali and continued working with Las Maravillas De Mali under the new name National Badema. At the end of the 1970s, he moved to Abidjan, Ivory Coast, and devoted himself to arranging for other artists. He worked with Alpha Blondy, Abdoulaye Diabaté, Omar Pene and Super Diamono, Ismaël Isaac, Nayanka Bell, and Paul Nemlin.

He accompanied the Fania All Stars, a New York salsa combo, on their African tour and founded the Ivorian Radio Orchestra. In the early 1990s, Maïga, together with Ivorian producer and label owner Ibrahim Sylla, initiated the internationally successful salsa project Africando in New York. Africando later evolved into an all-star band and released its first album in 1993. In April 2010, Boncana Maïga became President of the Malian Children's Parliament.
