i did a quick, non representative performance shootout between logic pro x, live 9.1, bitwig 1.03 and cubase 7.5 on my mid 2012 non retina macbook pro 2,6 GHz i7 quad core.

I used the N.I. Massive, initial sound, played a one bar g major triad in a two bar cycle. Interface Apogee Duet 2. Buffer size 256 samples in each case.

The cycle was performed 10 times each.

The goal was to reach a maximum number of simultaneously played instances without getting issues like audio dropouts, crackles etc.

Result: Bitwig: 40 instances, Live: 44 instances, logic: 62 instances, Cubase: 70 instances(!).

That's no accurate test but at least a clue . Cubase performed logic clearly out. Big surprise for me.

If you are using S1 you can go further. My chip dual core cpu is handling a big projects with 60 tracks heavy processed @ 55%. Give it a shot, you just need to use trasform features for save resources from both vst or audio and then if you aren't happy you can go back in any moment ;)
