Ok, I have never used these products before. I am hearing a lot about both products quite a bit and I am totally down to use them. I am wondering if these plugins are worth the investigation, then if so do you have any quality examples? Lastly I produce on a MAC, I do not run crossover and do not want to. I have little windows laptop I can try Vocaloid out on but that would be a pain. UTAU for OSX seems to be an option but again I look to you the experienced user who has investigated already or if it is worth taking the time to use and learn because it is in fact a production level tool.

Thank you all for your contributions or responses.

I have been a Vocaloid/UTAU user for around 10 years.
Easiest way to explain it is using KONTAKT as an analogy

Vocaloid = Licensed Kontakt library that shows up in your Kontakt player

UTAU = 3rd party Kontakt libraries... some are complete crap, some are very good. You can get good results, but may require a lot more "tweaking"

OSX is no problem as the recent Vocaloid libraries are OSX compatible.
The CUBASE parent company is the maker of Vocaloids... so as you can imagine... CUBASE support for Vocaloids is real.
simply get "VOCALOID4 Editor for Cubase"
    OSX and WINDOWS compatible....

MAC users must use Vocaloid AND the Cubase editor (Cubase AI is usually included in the package)

    enjoy

    NOTE:
Make sure your vocaloid matches the language you will write in... a Japanese Vocaloid singing in English sounds like garbage... and an English vocaloid singing in Japanese is just as bad... There are even Spanish and others out there too... browse the YAMAHA official store online. I have also seen them in our sister site.

Here is a more recent ENGLISH vocaloid - MALE.
    100% MAX compatible
    100% windows compatible

all voices here are computer generated
